today's wasn't the worst of them...izturis, who has a knack for dribbling the ball back to the pitcher, and lilly were due up.

watching him at iowa, i always thought he was too conservative. he's doing a good job of erasing that perception.

This thread really doesnt even deserve our attention. The Phillies made good plays this weekend. In retrospect, when guys get thrown out it is a mistake, but Quade has "stolen" several runs this year by being aggressive.

This is just one of my pet peeves--I just cannot stand getting on him for the 3 he lost this weekend, and just ignoring the other that were good aggressive decsions. If this trend continues over the next 4 months, then maybe it is worth discussing. But until then, this is just a ridiculous thread.

At least one of them (Soriano getting thrown out) wasn't Quade's fault. It wasn't Quade that was loafing home standing up.

wowsers! didn't even know we got 9 dozen people on base this weekend.

Not really on topic but I love your Avatar and I love Illmatic so thanks for putting that on here.

Mike Quade is the least of the Cubs' problems.

Still an issue that needs to be resolved.

Come on. You know damn well if he doesn't send the runners they'll be stranded at 3rd almost every time.

I really liked Chris Speier. We should've brought him back.

He shouldn't have had a DUI then.

I don't blame him for taking the chance today with Izturis and Lilly coming up to the plate. But testing Victorino yesterday was pretty stupid.

I don't think so. Soriano got a very good read on it and took off pretty early, and it was a bloop that hung in the air for a bit. Even with Soriano gimping home it took a perfect throw to beat him.

i missed this weekend's series. So now he's sending everyone and they're getting pegged at home? Last week he held everyone up when they could have crabwalked home.

I agree, last week he was holding everyone up. This weekend he is doing his best "Send All Wendall" impression. He doesn't seem to have a knack for being a 3rd base coach. I say we send him back to AAA and hire someone else. Lou has got to know someone that can do a better job. You could argue that its the least of our problems, but it is an important job and can really impact a game. Especially when you think of how many close games this team has lost.

I was not impressed with Quade when he was being interviewed on the leadoff man a few weeks ago. He didn't exactly come across as a big thinker. He was like a giddy kid who just got called up to the bigs. And I'm pretty sure he said something about not being used to coaching 3rd, and having to learn as he goes.

He's already gotten run over by Ramirez, nearly injuring him. He's gotten guys thrown out by several steps. And I don't buy the "only a perfect throw" nonsense. This is the majors, not little league. The perfect throw is not that far out of the ordinary. When Pat Burrell is gunning guys, you're not doing it right. It's one thing to challenge Jacque Jones or Juan Pierre, but when you are sending guys with hamstring issues against guys who have been gunning people of late, you are making mistakes.

Quade seems over his head to me.

I thought his hiring may have been Hendry's way of promoting a loyal employee and not Lou's choice for third base coach. This isn't supported by anything but my gut feeling along.
