Floyd held out today for back problems

Floyd who is always brittle was held out for back issues I was told personally via email from a friend who has a media pass.

 

No telling what it is, (spasms) or how long but it could be precisely what the Cubs are looking for in a roster delay to keep Pie up and offer relief of a corner OF jam.

 

As for Jones playing CF they are playing with fire as it is an important defensive position especially when they are not strong at SS or 2B and C defensively.

 

The question with Jones is what the Cubs can get in return.

They have to make a roster move tomorrow anyway to bring Guzman back up, so maybe Floyd to the DL will be it.

Why are they playing with fire having Jones in CF? He's looked very good out there and he's played it before. He's also pretty hot offensively right now...Jones, quite frankly, is at the bottom of my concerns for this team. Let him play and show off and hopefully Hendry will get some callers. Pie needs to head back down and play on a daily basis some more.

We could have 9 fielders that are all really bad, is that good too? Just because one position seems to have a poor fielder doesn't mean we should go all out and field the worst defensive team we can.

not as weird as implying that if you have a bad defensive c/2b/ss, you need a good defensive cf...as if his defense is going to lessen the crappiness of the catcher's defense.

 

i'm sure what he was getting at was the notion of strong defense up the middle, which couldn't be more ridiculous.

I don't want him to be a regular OFer, but his bat has shown it can come in very handy, so let's not act like he was useless for the team.
