Sweet jesus those BAA's are horrible. .304, .305, and .407? It looks like tomorrow might be BP for the other teams.

The .304 was from 6 innings, though.

But yeah, Berg has been awful this season.

Berg's is quite bad, but his has only been in 12 IP. Mathes' is the most disturbing at .305 after 25 IP.

The 12 IP is because he has only thrown 1 IP in two of his starts. He has four starts already, so the 12 IP is bad.

Mathes being hit at AAA isn't surprising, given his stuff.

Iowa won game one in 8 innings, 2-1. Marshall: 5 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 7 H, 5 K, 1 BB.

Any chance Marshall gets the callup over Guzman?

Lou won't be able to break up the lefties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'll be interesting to see who gets the call. I'm guessing they'll go without a 5th this weekend, then wait for the 12th and see who looks best. Iowa has a game Monday, which would allow Marshall to come back on 4 days rest and get one more outing before the 12th, when he'd be on 4 days rest again.

That's my thinking too.

I can't imagine Marshall would get the call after only two rehab starts. He hasn't even been overly impressive... more like average.

He started out slow in his start against Daytona, but was real solid the last 3 or 4 innings in that start. And it sounded like he was decent today. He's doing better than Guzman is to this point.

And he did very well against ML batters early last year.

I agree that they'll stick with things as is for this weekend, and not decide until they have to.

Marshall hasn't pitched much, but 5 innings is deeper than Guzman has been able to go thus far. So in terms of innings-eating potential, it's not clear he's at any disadvantage there.

Nice to see him doing OK. And 5 K's isn't bad.

I haven't seen full stats yet, but 7 hits in 5 IP is not good. 7/22 for the other team is a .318 avg along with the .304 from his start at Daytona. I'm leary of what that would translate to at the big league level. Granted there was only 1 BB today, but he's not missing many bats.

Before today's game, the game notes for Iowa listed Angel Guzman as the I-Cubs starter on Sunday and Sean Marshall as the I-Cubs starter for Monday. The game notes are passed to the media before each game and yesterday's game notes had "TBA" for Iowa's Sunday starter, so it's definitely worth noting.

Looks like goony and raw would be right if this were the case.

Marshall only threw 64 pitches today. I don't think he's stretched out yet.

Yes, this.

I love Marshall, but he's not ready yet.

Well darn.

Just have to trust in Da Gooz.

Mitch Atkins *might* be back sometime this homestand. I sent an email to the Daytona broadcast booth asking what was wrong with Mitch. As my luck would have it, right after I sent it in, I had to do some work and missed their answer. Meh.

Dolis and Ed Romero each have a no-hitter through 3 in the Peoria-South Bend game.

Way too early to be talking abut no-hitters.

Ryan Harvey just hit his 2nd HR of the season to cut St. Lucie's lead to 4-3. Santo was roughed up: 2.2 innings, 8 hits, 4 runs, 4 K's/3 BB's. Phelps pitched two scoreless innings and Koerber got the final out in the top half of the 5th.

Mota doubled and Adduci singled, scoring Mota, to give Peoria a 1-0 lead. Dolis: 5 innings, 2 hits, 0 runs, 3 K's/3 BB's.

Tennessee leads Birmingham 2-0 after 2. Jorge Cortes had an RBI double that scored Jake Fox and Matt Craig in the 2nd.
