Angel Guzman gives up 4 more runs in the 3rd.

Seriously?

Ech. My hopes of trading Z are fading fast...

I don't understand that kid. WTF Angel, you can dominate if you just figure out how good you can be.

I'm hoping it's just a AAA letdown. He's pitched better against Major Leaguers

He's been working on specific things at AAA - sliders and FBs to the outside corner. He's struggled with his command and control doing these things in 2 of his 3 starts at AAA.

That's good to know. I suspect he will pitch better as the fifth starter!

Sure thing.. I'll just sit back and watch Braden Looper shut out the Brewers. :evil:

He can't possibly keep this up, can he? What's the most innings he's thrown in one season in his career?

i prefer him to keep it up at least for tonight against the brewers and viewer beware a bartman clip will be shown on this rain delay...

Alright, so are we saying this rule has been changed?

Yeah they count.....official baseball rules

4.10

(a) A regulation game consists of nine innings, unless extended because of a tie score, or shortened (1) because the home team needs none of its half of the ninth inning or only a fraction of it, or (2) because the umpire calls the game. EXCEPTION: National Association leagues may adopt a rule providing that one or both games of a doubleheader shall be seven innings in length. In such games, any of these rules applying to the ninth inning shall apply to the seventh inning.

(b) If the score is tied after nine completed innings play shall continue until (1) the visiting team has scored more total runs than the home team at the end of a completed inning, or (2) the home team scores the winning run in an uncompleted inning.

© If a game is called, it is a regulation game:

(1) If five innings have been completed;

(2) If the home team has scored more runs in four or four and a fraction half-innings than the visiting team has scored in five completed half-innings;

(3) If the home team scores one or more runs in its half of the fifth inning to tie the score.

(d) If a regulation game is called with the score tied, it shall become a suspended game. See Rule 4.12.

(e) If a game is called before it has become a regulation game, the umpire shall declare it “No Game.”

(f) Rain checks will not be honored for any regulation or suspended game which has progressed to or beyond a point of play described in 4.10©

SUSPENDED GAMES.

Yeah, if the Cardinals and the Cubs both win, they both gain a game on the Brewers, but I still want the Cardinals to do bad. Also, I don't get CSN for some stupid reason, so I won't get to see the Bartman clip. (Like I haven't already seen it 5,680,238,412 times.)

I THINK this means the game will be continued tomorrow.

(9) If a game is suspended after it is a regulation game, and is continued prior to another regularly scheduled game, the regularly scheduled game will be a nine inning game.

There is a new rule this season. I think this answer is old.

He's going to have to break down eventually. No way can he pitch twice as many innings as he ever has before in the majors.

I beat both of you guys, but my friends were calling me asking me what the rule was so I couldn't type it fast enough. :lol:

OK. Sort of seems to contradict the 4.10 rule though, but as long as they aren't taking Cub runs off the board I'm cool with it.

You have to go down further:

This is part of 4.11

EXCEPTION: If the game is called while an inning is in progress and before it is completed, the game becomes a SUSPENDED game in each of the following situations:

(1) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to tie the score and the home team has not scored;

(2) The visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead and the home team has not tied the score or retaken the lead. National Association Leagues may also adopt the following rules for suspended games in addition to 4.11 (d) (1) & (2) above. (If adopted by a National Association League, Rule 4.10 © (d) & (e) would not apply to their games.):

Nice to see the Cards implode, but couldn't they at least beat the Brewers and help the Cubs?

Wait a minute, am I trying to convince myself that the Cubs actually have a shot at this?

I just had a thought Re: suspended game:

Tomorrow is an 11:30 start, correct? And 3 innings before that?

MORNING BASEBALL!! :lol:

And a dropped ball by Pujols, Crew could take lead here.

But...but...but...Pujols is perfect. He never makes mistakes. :roll:

Yep! I thought of that, too, but I started reading this thread and forgot about it.
