The best part about this game live, was watching Pie in the outfield and him hit his double. I'm sure it was visible on TV, but when he got to second he was clapping really hard and excited, poor guy needs to learn that now he's going to get stranded there 9 times out of 10.

Sad thing is he's reached a championship in every year except last year, where Iowa missed a playoff spot by a game IIRC. The guy has been on a ton of winning teams. It's a shame he's going to have to get used to a team that doesn't win.

Yeah they showed that. Len was like "Man, Pie is pumped up!" It was awesome.

Also, the Ramirez's home run went to the street, but a guy in my section realized it was his 200th so he went and offered the guy that got it from the street $50 for it and agreed. Guy threw the ball up, he dropped the 50 down. Then half an inning later some Cubs PR dude came and asked who got the ball because Aramis wants it. I never found out what he got for it, or if he even gave it up yet. But his buddies were trying to convince him to hold out for 10,000$+, or season tickets, and talking him up to hold out and stuff. I don't think they realized that 200th HR isn't that big of a deal (guy that had the ball did though, he just wanted some signed stuff and to get to give it to him personally), and I doubt the market for it is that high outside of Ramirez's sentimental value.

If it was someone I really liked like Aramis or Lee, I'd only want what that guy wanted, to meet the player who hit it and get a signed bat or something. If it was something like Bonds' record breaker, I'd hold out for huuuuuge bucks.

If the strike zone is one foot off the plate and low, then yes, it was a legit strike.

When I saw that I thought Pie was more pissed that he didn't get a triple out of that than he was pumped because of the double. He kept looking over at third like he really wanted it.

it's like people are sitting there, watching the water rise, and telling themselves they don't believe in water as they drown.

you know how some atheists say that people turn to religion because they take comfort in being able to explain away all the unknowns in their life by pointing to "God"?

I think Sulley has found his religion

Any words from Lou yet?

Lou didn't have a postgame press conference:

Tribune

Piniella blew off his postgame interview session...A Cubs spokesman said Piniella decided to "take a pass" on meeting with reporters.

I'm a little concerned about the increase in ump confrontations. This isn't the NBA. I don't see more bitching turning into calls in their favor. If anything, this can only hurt.

What's the difference? We're getting routinely bent over by the boys in blue.
