I don't watch a ton of Cardinals games, but I know that I haven't seen Pujols in a slump like this probably....ever. It's starting to affect him defensively too. He missed several catches last night...some tough some not. And one was just a super easy catch he just flat out dropped.

I'm not trying to dig on the guy...I just thought the slump was getting significant enough for it's own thread.

I'm pretty surprised too. Albert Pujols is actually human.

I know he had that foot/ankle injury a year or two back, I wonder if that's flared up again.

plantar fasciitis. could be. it is a condition that never goes away. you have it once, you have it forever, and there is always a possability of it coming out of nowhere.

I know. I have it. sends me limping around for a few days at a time a couple times a year. only 'cure' is to stay off it for a few days.

also, I wish this were posted Monday after another weekend of Albert's futility.

The league finally figured him out. Just took how many years?

I don't think "figuring" out a hitter is as simple as you make it seem. He pretty much can control the entire strike zone and has absurd power over certain portions of the plate.

No matter how "figured" out he is, a pitcher has to be pretty perfect with his spots to get him out.

The problem is cleary with Pujols himself.

I drafted him in my fantasy league, and was counting on him and a couple others to carry the entire offense.

Of course he's going to do badly.

I feel like he goes through a spell like this every year. It's never prolonged, and it looks worse this year because it's out of the gate. I'm pretty sure Albert will hit .330 with about 40+ bombs this year, despite the slow start.

They'll still win the division, even with Pujols as one of the 7 automatic outs in the lineup right now.

mostly because braden looper, kip wells and adam wainwright will all end the season with an era under 2.00

I disagree. If Pujols performs like this the rest of the year (highly unlikely) than the Cardinals won't finish within sight of the top of the division. They have no other offense, their ace is banged up, and Looper will get figured out as the season continues.

Our pythag has us just around .500. Just around .500 will be within sight of the division (probably). It won't win it, but it will be within sight.

Oh yeah your garbage will continue to overachieve. It's the way it is supposed to be.

Fair enough.

Since our garbage is over achieving and our stars are underachieving, I think it is safe to say that both will balance themselves out to an extent and we will be around a .500 team.

Cubs pythag has them at 10-7 record, and yet they are 7-10 right now.

We always manage to outplay out Pythagorean record...just not in the best way.

You were saying?

He's had a few good games this season, but hasn't really strung any together. While I think he'll pick things up, lets not get too far ahead of ourselves here yet.
