Here are the other first round matchups.

East

1. Detroit vs. 8. Orlando

2. Cleveland vs. 7. Washington

3. Toronto vs. 6. New Jersey

West

1. Dallas vs. 8. Golden State

2. Phoenix vs. 7 L.A. Lakers

3. San Antonio vs. 6. Denver

4. Utah vs. 5. Houston

I want to be optomistic but I can't see my boys taking the Suns past 5 games.

With all 3 Texas teams in I'm split on who to root for. I think I'm gonna root for all of them, but the Spurs are my favorites.

I wonder if Golden State will even score against the Mavs in that series.

;)

I realize you're joking here but Golden State did go 3-0 against Dallas this year - although in the last game Dallas didn't play Nowitzki, Howard, or Stackhouse. I'm not saying Golden State will win the series but I don't see a Dallas sweep. Dallas in 6.

Plus Dallas has the better Point Guards, who control the game. Plus you know Nellie wants to beat his old team. This wasn't the most ideal draw for the Mavs. They will win this series but, it won't be a cakewalk at all.

I've got chalk

I am so sick of this term. It became the vogue phrase this March, moreso than I've ever heard. Mike and Mike said it 50 times every morning.

i had never heard it prior to this thread, but i'm already tired of it

Apparently you didn't watch any analysis of the NCAA tournament this year.

Oh I know, GS definitely wasn't my first choice for the first round, especially since Nellie knows this team inside and out. Should be a good series.

Nice comeback by the Raptors.

Made the game interesting, but I think this series is going to be done in 5, maybe 6 at the most. Raptors didn't have an answer for Jefferson and I doubt VC is going to remain that cold for the rest of the series. Kidd also didn't have a great game on offense and they still were able to win. If Bosh gets in foul trouble on Tuesday, that series is going to be all but over.

I would like to thank Orlando for trying very, very hard to help us out. They won't beat Detroit, but it would be nice to see them have to go 6 games

And the Lakers forgot how to play defense in the third quarter. They allowed 39 points in the first half and 35 points in the third quarter and their lead is down to 3.

And the Lakers hold the Suns under 100 but stll lose. Ugh.

We need a new team. Need to trade for Garnett.

the lakers??? who do they have that would bring garnett in return?

I'd probably guess Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom, and a couple of 1st rounders would be a start.

It's not going to happen though. You're going to have to blow McHale's socks off if you want to get Garnett. And the only way the Lakers would do that is if they traded Kobe for Garnett.

Andrew Bynum would be the center of that deal. It would also likely include a first round selection and Jordan Farmar also.

I don't think they need Garnett and don't really want Garnett because I think Bynum is going to be very good. Remember that he's still the youngest player in the NBA at 19 - at least until the NBA draft in June. He made a big improvement this year and I fully expect him to average close to 15 point next year. The trio of Bynum, Odom, and Bryant could be good. The thing the Lakers lacked was a third solid scorer this year who could pick up the slack when either Kobe or Odom sat out (or when Odom was hurt). I'm hoping that Bynum can become that.

I'm also REALLY hoping that Bynum can take some huge steps in his progression next year because the more minutes he gets, the fewer that Kwame Brown gets. I hate, HATE Kwame Brown.
