Any idea when Soriano will be healthy enough to play?

Maybe by Friday I've read but who knows.

I have absolutely no reason to say this other than I've been a Cubs fan my whole life, but I'd be shocked if he was back that soon.

This is interesting. This is the second time the Cubs have faced a left-hander. This time though they put DeRosa in RF instead of Theriot, which they told DeRosa they weren't going to do. It probably is the best defensive alignment though.

Also, very interesting that 2 of the 3 starts that Cedeno has at SS are against LHP.

I'm really hoping that he can prove me wrong and have a decent night at the plate tonight.

I would agree-I don't care which SS steps up right now at all, I just hope 1 of them will and become somewhat decent offensively.

Per Rotoworld from Sun-Times:

Alfonso Soriano (hamstring) took batting practice prior to Tuesday's game and said he might return to the lineup on Friday.

Soriano, who also jogged in the outfield on Tuesday, says his hamstring feels like it did in 2005 when he missed less than a week.

Sweet. I look forward to being shocked.

Why Cedeno? Why not Blanco?
My grandma isn't busy this afternoon, I'm sure she'd be able to swing by and play short for a few innings too.

Also, why is he hitting in FRONT of Pie???

I didn't mean Blanco for SS. I meant Blanco instead of Barrett, given his splits against Redman

Pie had a 649 OPS against LHP in the minor leagues last year. There at least probably isn't that much difference right now between Cedeno and Pie when batting against LHP.

As far as Cedeno at all, they seem to think that when a LHP takes the mound is a good day to rest Izturis. As for Blanco, 20 AB's against a pitcher is simply not enough to rest Barrett when Blanco just started on Tuesday.

If he's going by matchups, then that makes KTG06's question of why not Blanco an even better question.

cubs will lose 3-1, in agonizing fashion.

rich hill will walk only one, but hang a curve to the next hitter, who goes deep, giving up 2 runs in 7 innings, also striking out 11.

howry, in the eighth, will give up back to back doubles to the jones'

the cubs will score when lee doubles home pie.

Is Cedeno the only other option at SS?

Which one of Hill, Theriot or DeRosa won't score on that double? At least one of them has to be on for that to happen.

Apparently yes. They are the only two to get any time there during the regular season, and there are no signs of that changing at the moment.
