The Cubs faced Houston without having to see Oswalt and Jennings. And now they will face SD without seeing Young or Peavy and Atlanta without Smoltz and Hudson. And will likely see St. Louis this weekend without having to face Carpenter. Now is the time to win some damn games!

Amen. We HAVE to come out of these next 7 games with at the very worst a 4-3 record, but preferably a 5-2 record (or better).

I'm getting kind of desperate for Soriano to turn it on. Hopefully a game under the lights will do some tricks.

I'm also hoping Aramis is back. Our line-up sucks pretty hard.

I'm struggling to keep my head above water with these guys. This offense should score more runs than it is. The Cubs need to string some wins together and right this ship, or I'm just going to have to be a Joliet Jackhammers fan again this summer. Please don't do that to me boys!

But again, we have Miller and Marquis going four times this week.

Murton in RF? Awesome. Big fan of that. I guess Aram still isn't in the lineup if Murton is batting 4th.

edit: Nevermind. I thought Floyd was in LF and Murton was in RF. Why did Lou switch Murton and Jones? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Murton and Jones swapping corners?

My guess is that they want to give Floyd rest, but they also want Murton acclimated to RF so that he and Floyd can play together some days.

Also, while Murton is learning RF, it makes sense to put a better defender in the other corner spot so Soriano can move a couple steps over to protect Murton, and that means Jones over Floyd.

Yup

I think Lou wants to see if Murton can handle RF while keeping Jones' OF presence. If Murton passes the test, this may setup an OF of Floyd, Soriano, and Murton L-R.

I just worry about Murt playing the harder of the two corners having never done so in the majors, at Wrigley or anywhere.

I do too-but it's the only way that Murton and Floyd can ever play together, and it will definitely increase Murton's PT if he can handle RF as well.

I think Matt can handle RF reasonably well. Floyd's lack of mobility pretty much limits him to LF. If Cliff stays healthy, Lou will not want to keep his bat on the bench too long. So, if Matt can be more versatile it can only help his chances of playing.

I'm not arguing that versatility is Murton's best chance of getting into the lineup with more consistency, I'm just concerned we're going to see lost fly ball after lost fly ball on a chilly, breezy evening.

With Pie off to such a hot start in AAA, is there a chance that Jones gets traded and they are seeing if Murton can play right just in case?
