Both the radio guys said it was a clear trap.

OK, it was cool to yell "LOUUUUUUU" and have him come out, everybody wanted him to really go at it.

glad to see ohman has the ability to put runners on base without walking them

Its easy to pitch well when the game doesnt count...crap.

There were alot of people saying that about Hill last year.

Did you just compare Will Ohman to Rich Hill?

No. I think Will Ohman sucks. However obviously people on this forum find it ok to take stabs on my view on psychology in baseball. And I don't appreciate those tongue in cheek stabs.

And then you completely contradict yourself by citing Hill...we are all very confused.

I think I wasn't conveying my ideas very well. I do not think, just because there is no pressure, all of a sudden a sucky player will be GREAT! That is what your post insinuated.

My idea is that baseball is PART mental. Albiet very LITTLE mental. However there is a little bit of psychology in baseball. For example. When a batter struggles at the plate for a long period of time. He tries to do to many things, and sometimes has trouble to forget about the numbers, block out his negative thoughts. And try to get back into rythem.

Now, when Rich Hill was struggling early last season. Was it because he did not have the "stuff"? No, it's because he was nervous, and he didn't yet realize that he was a major leaguer, and belonged there. He even said this himself. That one of the keys to his success, was realizing he belonged. Why do any AAA pitchers have trouble at first. It's MENTAL.

When Carlos Zambrano has a call that doesn't go his way, or something minor goes wrong. SOMETIMES, he tries to overthrow, and does not step off the mound, slow down his game, and focus on 1 pitch at a time. Mental.

I shouldn't have said "Yes I'm serious" in the first place. Because NO, I didn't really beleive "a hitter will get a homerun more times when he is comfortable than when he is not". I just made that comment about cliff as sort of sarcasm toward the Cubs. Like saying "Ok Cliff, now get a home run when it matters".

CSN showed Sori talking to the media in the locker room. He said he hopes to only miss "5-7 days." I think this MRI is just a precaution... Edited by 98navigator

One last thing about the game. One of the coolest parts for me, besides 3 homers and 12 runs :D, was watching Greg Maddux patrolling out in center field during patting practice shagging fly balls. Something about watching a future hall of famer in a position completly different from his own hearing the crack of the bat and jogging in position to make the play.

Will Pie get called up..I wonder.

I hope. I just want to see him in a Cubs uni.

Soriano would either have to be put on the DL or someone would have to be sent to AAA for Pie to be called up. If Soriano is only going to be out a couple days I don't see it happening.

Was at the game so I have a few questions.

After replay, did Soriano catch that ball? Looked like he obviously did live (also looked like they might have caught that guy stealing)

What was wrong with Soriano? jammed a wrist? (I found out it's a hamstring)

It was a trap. Very close, but a trap. Good call by the ump.

Oh and was there any particular reason for the Murt/Jacque RF/LF flip flop?

Possibly 2 far fetched reasons. 1)Jacque went 2 games without action in RF, maybe Lou thinks JJ is the better fielder and wants him getting more of the action 2)On the broadcast Len/Bob said that Lou believes that Murton gets rid of the ball faster.

They showed a clip of the media asking Lou to rank the OF arms and Lou was flabergasted. He had no clue how to answer the question and went on a friendly rant about how the media asks him really hard questions, etc. He never answered the question, meaning he probably didn't want to offend Jacque.

But I think in reality Lou is doing this to allow him to get Floyd and Murton in the game at the same time. Hes said hes been really sick about Murton not playing enough.

None that we could decipher. There was some scattered Pie speculation, but our best guess is that Lou was trying Murt in right in preparation for a Floyd/Fonz/Murt outfield at some point.

According to Yogi Berra baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical.

I guess I'm Yogi Berra part 2. Because I think it's mostly mental, but only a little bit.

It also sounds like Jones' slow release (extra crow hop and then airmail/spike) hasn't gone unnoticed. Murton has a quicker release, not to mention a more accurate arm, even if it isn't as strong as Jones'.
