I don't think he is the worst defensive C in the NL, but I do wish he were better than he is.

I think we are all just frustrated by the fact this game looks like a re-run of so many over the last few years.

BARRETT IS REALLY SUCKING BEHIND THE PLATE. OMG

Gameday said it was a wild pitch.

It was but it was right infront of Barrett he turned the wrong way and let it skip away. TERRIBLE move--it hit his glove

Barrett is the worst defensive catcher in the league.

Yeah, with Piazza moving to the AL and becoming a DH, you might be right.

I can't think of any worse off the top of my head, at least.

On the other hand, he's also easily a top 5 offensive catcher. Mauer and McCann are the only two definately above him.

I don't know where he ranks but all of his weaknesses are showing early in the season. I don't care if the ball is in the dirt, he can't let it get away consistently. He has zero instincts back there and always seems to be turning the wrong way. :x :x The pitchers will think twice before throwing low pitches...

Biggio makes an error!

The problem with Barrett isn't blocking as much as it is not being able to locate the ball if something goes wrong.

Hopefully that Biggio error can get a rally going.

Y'know, even if that were true, and its not, his offense still outweighs it.

It is true. Im tired of hearing about "his offense outweighs his mistakes behind the plate." Hell, I rather have Blanco starting behind the plate each game because I know he wont be dropping off-speed pitches, I know he will block pitches in the dirt, and I know he will call a really solid game behind the plate. Barrett is garbage behind the plate. He is better served as a DH in the AL than he is a catcher in the NL.

With completely new management and so many new players, how do we keep getting these reruns?

Same ownership and GM?

Same owner - that is, until next year.

New manager does not equal new management. The organizational decision makers remain, and that losing philosophy carries over. You can't erase all of Hendry's stupidity in one spring.

True....but they seem like the same players doing that same stupid things....I guess Hendry just really knows how to pick em.
