I have to give a lot of credit to Marquis for pitching out of jams his defense put him in. He pitched over a first and second no out situation earlier, and only allowed one run this past inning.

I don't know how much longer he can go though. He's labored a lot this game.

I just have no other explanation for this franchise. Gold glove defensive shortstop makes 3 errors in a game, 2 in one inning no less. Cursed

i can at least revel in the idea that God exists. without God, there couldn't be curses, right?

STOP WALKING PEOPLE!!

In fairness to Marquis, guys with electric stuff tend to walk people.

Nolan Ryan had several seasons in which he walked 4 batters or more per game.

I'm still wondering where Marquis' 20K game is.

Dang.

Minimum damage so far.

Let's Go Cubs!!!

Let's Go Cubs!!!

Let's Go Cubs!!!

Being down 4-0 is never minimum damage.

Giving up one run after that embarrassment of an inning is pretty minimal, wouldn't you say?

Come on guys, bring out the big bats.

Let's Go Cubs!!!

Let's Go Cubs!!!

Gold Glove SS was before Tommy John surgery. That guy is probably gone.

this has to be the first time Jason Marquis has ever been compared to Nolan Ryan.

The saving grace is Piniella won't continue to find reasons to play Isturis as the great Dusty would have. We'll see the Riot before long...

that run is on cesar

Forgot to cover second? I missed it reading through this thread.

let the ball trickle off his glove into the OF

no runs should have scored

I was referring to the DeRosa ground ball where he looked to 2nd, but threw to 1st and the runner scored from 3rd. Was Cesar not covering 2nd for the DP opportunity?

He was a little slow but Ausmus was running so DeRosa took his time. Your point is well taken though and it might be time for Izzy to sit a couple games.

The gold glove monikor is bunk. Cesar looked very mediocre when he came over last year. He hasn't been good since before his body gave out.

So does that make this a plague?

It was too close to chance a throw. He took the sure out at 1B.

So wait, why'd we get him then? I'd have rather released Maddux outright then be stuck with this jerk playing SS the next 2 years.

At least the guy we have now isn't signed through next year.

i haven't seen a cub take a 3-2 pitch in years.

They've done that 7-8 times already this year-of course half of them were called strike 3.

how many times have they had full counts?

they're only working the count so that they can swing later.

Like I said, at least 7-8. Barrett and Izturis took pitches on 3-2 counts yesterday, for example.

no, how many times have they had full counts, not taken pitches on full counts.

anyway, i was being facetious.

DeRosa needs to grab some bench, I'm not joking.

Seconded

The entire starting middle infield for this game needs to sit for a couple.
