Wow that is interesting, in the later pictures you can definitely tell that there is a white substance under the brim of his hat.

Yeah, and the player will always appeal, which usually those suspensions reduces to 6-8 games.

 

Very rarely I see a 10 game suspension holds up after a appeal.

I have a friend who has him in our fantasy league who always likes to rub in the fact that Kerry Wood and Mark Prior spend a lot of time on the DL, which I don't care about at all, who I just recently rubbed in his face about this

If it were something rubbing off from his thumb as opposed to something that were already there, the edges of coloration wouldn't be as finely contrasted. Also, it runs along the brim of his cap, but if it were to have rubbed off from his thumb, it would have been running from the edge of the hat toward his head, the natural direction the thumb points when you grab your hat.

 

IMO, there's absolutely zero chance that it's from the rosin bag. I'll leave a one or two percent chance that the reason it's there is for reasons OTHER than doctoring the ball and cheating, but those pictures are pretty clear - it's a deliberately placed foreign substance.

resin is what's left after you smoke, i believe.

 

I think resin is nothing more than pine sap:
