You do realize you're going to lose around 20 points overnight, right?

I hadn't had a chance to look, but those are good numbers then. Hanley 4-6 2 sb today... nice day for him. Bats are decent today, hope they keep it up. I don't want to lose the first week, but I think my pitching > vance's.

Brandon Webb is going to lose some points tonight, too. And boy did Jose Contreras stink it up today.

I'm sad my 2 aces had to square off against each other. (Halladay/Bonderman)

Doesn't matter...wins and losses don't count this year, so it doesn't matter if your aces face one another.

Shane and I match up a couple of powerhouse offenses and suspect pitching.

On Shane's side, the offensive core is incredible with Howard, Utley, Lee & Bonds. Young is tough. Hunter, Mora and Griffey aren't what they used to be but are still productive.

My offense is also strong at the top with a core of Pujols, Reyes, Abreu, Holliday and Martinez. There's a bunch of young players that will be the difference between a good offense and a great one. Weeks, Gordon, Delmon and Conor are all guys that could be near the top at their positions, but will it happen this year?

Shane's staff has a couple big question marks, though I love the flier on Greinke after the spring he's had. Dice-K, Schmidt and Bedard give him three very solid pitchers. The relief core...Mac, Proctor and Sanchez won't get many saves, but Sanchez could work some big innings in the pen and throw up some pretty impressive numbers there.

My staff will be much improved in a few weeks when Unit and Little Weaver return. In the meantime, Oswalt & Garland anchor the staff. Verlander looked very shaky early in spring, but improved as it went along. Will the innings catch up with him, though? Robertson is a nice fill-in guy, but nothing more than that. Kip Wells could do anything and is a very big question mark. The relief core looks pretty strong, though, with Mariano, Hoffman & Valverde.

It's going to be a good matchup between two of the stronger offensive teams. It may come down to some of the question marks on the staff and how they do. The starts look to be even at 6-6, though that could be impacted by weather or changes in rotation.

Let's play some baseball!

I think this years team is more like the team I had 2 years ago that finished 3rd, not like last years 2nd from last :-).

I can't complain on my 1st base tandum either. Grienke was a no brainer consider her only cost something like 15 points to keep. I've had him since the begining so might as well keep him. Missing the draft hurt my OF selection. Happy I got Bonds though.

I don't have the youth that you have though, and for the most part no depth in RP. Hoping just for innings and K's.

A decent offensive day, and I'll have a 2 start advantage going the rest of the week. Your team is loaded and if they have a half way decent week offensively, it'll be tough to catch up. I need to get Cliff Lee back to round out the rotation.

By the way, do we just reserve a starter who will make the 8th start for each team this week ?

So far, my relievers are difference makers - 2IP, 6K!

that's my understanding. and it's ok if it gives you too many reserves.

why the hell are the stupid astros batting offensive black hole adam everett in front of berkman and lee while ensberg at his .400 obp potential bat 5th? if ensberg was batting second, i think he'd have the potential to be a top 5-7 3b.

hey, FJM agrees with me.

When did it become okay to bat a guy with consecutive .290 OBP seasons in front of Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee?

Your other options include Morgan Ensberg (.396 in 2006), Chris Burke (.347), and Luke Scott (.426 in limited ABs).

Everett, by the way, did do better against lefties last year (.333), but Ensberg went for an insane .463.

Terrible day offensively (3 players in the red). Fortunately Haren and Duke had solid starts. FWIW my bullpen wasn't terrible. With another start tonight for the Stealth, it should be pretty close going into tomorrow.

I went down a ton too. Negative points are apparantly more too. John Patterson put up a negative 10.25, I don't think I've ever had a player score that low.

Sadly I have you beat with Erik Bedard at a -11. Anyone have Contreras starting :-)?
