Any word on Prior?

Read back a couple of pages...or go here.

Yikes. Talk about a complete overreaction. He gave up 2 hits and 0 runs in 4 innings (granted it was minor league hitters). But he's completely done for. And what's the calves thing? Just stupid.

Yeah, but what kind of hitters were in the lineup?

You're basically saying that he pitched bad because he didnt face great hitters......he gave up 2 hits in 4 innings, you can't say he did bad based on that.

Well looks like Miller will win the 5th spot. Guzman does not look very good.

Huh, Guzman looks great?

He looks great? to who? There is only been one inning in which I could say he looked good today. Yeah he looks great he's given up 4 runs in 4 innings now *rolls eyes*

No, I'm asking what kind of hitters were in the lineup. The skill of the hitters do make a difference

Give the White Sox some credit. Guzman was making good pitches, they were just hitting them.

He also pitched without the regular 3b & LF come on! There were plays in this game that weren't made (that directly led to runs).

That's going to be a tough performance to judge.

Stuff wise, Guzman looked great. I thought that his stuff looked good a few times last year though when he was getting drilled.

The defense could have not let runners move up a couple of times, or could possibly have not allowed a hit or two to go through-but there were a lot of solid hits, and one or two solid outs also (the play Lee made in the 1st for example).

I'd say it was about on the same level of Miller's last performance-maybe a little worse, but it's hard to tell for sure without knowing what Miller's stuff was like last time.

Yes, but if he gave up 2 hits in 4 innings to minor league hitters, thats still nothing to be worried about.

When did the Astros become a very good hitting baseball team? Last I checked, they had more zeros in the lineup than real hitters.

Did Guzman even record a strike out? It's kind of frustrating to watch because he has been ahead of most of the hitters.

Not a one.

LOL, I was thinking the same thing!

So what the hell happened with Gooz?

To his credit, the sox hit some good pitches. They were very timely hits with men on base. No K's though which is worrisome. His defense didn't do him any favors either. Theriot looks like a matador over there.

But he was getting hit. He drilled Iguchi and wasn't able to wiggle off the hook.

I thought he pitched ok. He was getting the ball up in the zone too often and his curve ball didn't look sharp. But overall, he didn't pitch that bad.

I like the way Guzman pitched. Some balls were hit hard but had the defense played better, a number of runs would not have scored. Allowing a "triple" and throwing to the wrong base didn't help (and I still think Aramis would have made two of those plays at 3B that got by Theriot).

His stuff was very good as was his location. He was jumping ahead of most every batter. But he could never get a swing-and-miss. And most of what they hit was finding holes.

He only gave up one XBH, the Iguchi triple, and Floyd should have either caught that or stayed in front of it. It wasn't really Gooz's fault. To top it off, he only walked one.

All in all, I was very impressed. I'd rather have him in the rotation right now than anybody buy Z and Hill.

Also, most everything was on the ground it seemed. It is a little bothersome that he couldn't put people away. he was ahead of most of the hitters at least through the first 3 innings. I didnt follow the 4th much.
