At least the curve is looking decent every now and then...and he's a bit faster.

Baby steps, but hey, steps.

Better movement on the FB too. Now he just needs the command. I expect his 4-seamer will be in the low 90s by the end of ST.

Yeah, from the reports from his last start, he's hitting 87-88 a lot more often then he did last time out. Which is progress. Especially if the 82-83 mph reports were true. Even if he really was hitting 85-86 last time. Its still an improvement, and a fairly good one for such a short time span.

How many pitches has Prior thrown? I wonder if he'll come out for a third inning like he's supposed to.

he was never scheduled for 3. only 2.

Bold Prediction! Prior will not be our 5th starter and will open in Iowa.

Bolder prediction: Prior will continue to suck in ST, make the team, and have a pretty good year.

Then he'll be injured somehow. There are just too many possibilities to predict that one.

Sounds like most of you had unreasonable expectations of Prior after his previous start.

What kind of unreasonable expectations are you talking about? I think there's a good chance that Prior as we knew him is gone.

He threw 83-84 mph last game and it sounds like people were hoping he'd be back into the 90s and have good control again. It's not going to happen in a day, might never happen, but this game doesn't prove that he's done.

Yeah. He improved, he introduced his curve in-game and his FB had better movement and velocity. Location still a worry. I can't say he's never going to be the same after 4 ST innings, especially when he's shown the improvement from the first appearance to the next.

Did someone mention earlier how Kinkade has been hpb 52 times in his last two minor league seasons?

Yep. He has 194 HBPs in his professional (majors + minors) playing career.

Agreed. There was a little improvement this time and he still has 4 more outings to go in ST. As long as he keeps improving, even just a bit, with each outing, it's a good thing. I don't mind him starting the season in Iowa as long as he's on track to getting back to being a competitive pitcher. I don't need him being a superman this early...it would be nice, but it's not necessary for me to have hope.

Priors arm slot looks different. its not at a low as Z's but seems lower than before. he doesnt look to throw over the top as much. could be me.

No, I was thinking that too.

Ron was saying that Prior gets hit when he drops down.
