Santo says Prior looks a lot better than last time.

 

Hopefully each pain-free outing will increase his confidence a little more again, and eventually he will start to really air it out again.

That's not surprising at all since he's throwing something besides the FB and can actually fool the hitters. But it sounds like he has good movement and upped the velo on his FB.

Based on the pitch where it showed 88 MPH and then 94 MPH right after indicates that the gun is pointed close to the batter (as it picked up either the bat speed or the ball after contact). That means we're working with a slow gun.

 

Wrigley uses a fast gun, from what I've noticed. So basically, add 2-3 mph and that's what we'd be seeing from him if he were pitching in Wrigley at midseason.

 

So Prior is really working more in the 87-90 range.
