Ah hell now he's getting crushed.

Well, if he's hitting 87/88, i suppose thats better than 85/86 topping out at 89 last start.

It's like Maddux, but about 10 pitches too many.

At least the curve is looking decent every now and then...and he's a bit faster.

Baby steps, but hey, steps.

Better movement on the FB too. Now he just needs the command. I expect his 4-seamer will be in the low 90s by the end of ST.

prior vs. ? (stop chatting Len and some dude and call the game)

Curveball away, stupid swing and miss 0-1

curveball away 1-1

foul ball popfly caught by kinkade (?)

Side retired. 5-2 Royals.

From what all of you are saying-it's that Prior is improving and may be ready in a while, but probably won't improve fast enough to be ready for the team out of ST? That's what I'm hearing-it just seems like it might take him a while to be ready and get that command back.

whats the hardest he's thrown so far?

The hardest I've seen is 87. Which I suppose isn't that terrible.

The lack of control worries me the most.

Same here.

His command with the fastball isn't bad. He's falling behind because his curve ball has missed low and away every time he has thrown it except one. But his curve isn't something to really be concerned with right now.

His fastball wasn't that consistent, but it's an improvement. He's getting a little better velocity, a little better command, and a little better movement on his fastball.

And Plesac may have been right for once when he said that Prior has to relearn to pitch with a slower fastball right now. He's throwing the ball where he's used to throwing it with a harder fastball.

Sounds like most of you had unreasonable expectations of Prior after his previous start.

What kind of unreasonable expectations are you talking about? I think there's a good chance that Prior as we knew him is gone.

I would think 4 more starts should be enough.

we'll see. the biggest problem is the command. especially with the curve. the velocity will come...

Well, Prior had better velo on his FB this time out, but his curve was very inconsistent although it had good movement.

Much better than his last outting. The results were crappy b/c everyone was just sitting on the FB.

How many pitches has Prior thrown? I wonder if he'll come out for a third inning like he's supposed to.

I'm actually encouraged by his start today. The results were garbage, but his velocity improved and he showed a few glimmers of his old self. The curveball he threw to Sweeney was very nice. Overall, he still needs more time to get back to where he used to be, but he has it. I think he showed improvement in terms of how he pitched, even though his numbers didn't improve.

He was only scheduled for two innings

He threw 83-84 mph last game and it sounds like people were hoping he'd be back into the 90s and have good control again. It's not going to happen in a day, might never happen, but this game doesn't prove that he's done.
