Apparenlty, Miller doesn't want to go to the bullpen if he isn't the fifth starter.

So, if Prior or Guzman win the fifth starter's job over Miller, where could he go.

One possibility opened up today.

Braves hurler, Mike Hampton is injured again, and this time it's believed to be a strained oblique that could keep him out until May. If that's the case, the Braves could need a starter to slide into the rotation behind Smoltz, Hudson, James, and Davies.

Could the Cubs package Miller with another prospect in order to net Yunil Escobar?

The Cubs could send Miller, a bullpen arm (Novoa), plus another prospect to the Braves for Escobar. The Cubs might could even offer Haufpauir if he continues to hit this spring. While Haufpauir isn't considered much of a prospect, the Braves aren't settled at first and going there may actually open a chance to play which he won't have here.

Steve Phillips would have done that trade. Too bad he isn't there anymore.

We're not getting anything more than B prospects for Miller.

Maybe my idea of "B" prospects is different from those who are more well-informed, but I'd take "some" (i.e. multiple) B prospects for Wade Miller in a heartbeat. (assuming of course that Prior proves rotation-worthy).

Wade Miller + Prospect(s) for Jarrod Saltalaralphmaccio

Unless those are some really good prospects, the Braves aren't letting Salty go. They are extremely high on him.

I know he's good, but what happens when he's ready for the majors with McCann already at catcher?

If we were able to grab him it would make our draft decision a lot easier (Price over Wieters, assuming Price isn't grabbed ahead of us).

I must've missed Miller saying he wouldn't go to the pen... when did that happen?

There was a quote in the Trib this morning from Jim Hendry saying that he and Miller agreed that if he doesn't win the 5th starting job, Hendry will find a mutually acceptable home elsewhere.

That's kind of the point I was getting at. I know the guy is a highly touted prospect in the Braves organization. I was partially joking about it, and really only wanted to say Saltalaralphmaccio.

But if we could swing him, sinceh e's blocked by McCann, then that'd be swiggity sweet.

What about throwing in another player or two, some prospects possibly, and trying to take Renteria off their hands? He makes 9 or 10 mill a year for a couple more years so maybe they would try and save a little cash.

Just throwing ideas out there.

Well, it took Marte to get Renteria, so I doubt Miller gets him straight up.

My guess is one of those guys could move to firstbase. The Braves might trade Salty, but it would take a Pie or Veal level prospect to get him. They are that high on him.

You draft the best player available, not to fill a specific need.
