I really believe he'll have a Comeback Player of the Year type of season, but like many other fans, I need to see him stay healthy. I think he will, but we've been stung before.

Prior's gonna havta beat DLee for CPOY.

And Kerry Wood, and Wade Miller. .

and Ceasar Izturis. .

Yep. It's worse that they make a combined $30 million.

AZ Phil over at The Cub Reporter says Prior looked really good today.

I don’t know how he felt afterward, and maybe he breaks down next week, but I do know this: Today, Mark Prior LOOKED out-freakin’-great. Prior circa-vintage 2003. He threw fast balls, breaking balls, and change-ups over a 10 minute period with a free and easy delivery, good pace and rhythm, and he seemed to have excellent velocity and location. Prior must have impressed the hitters, too, because D-Lee gave Prior an “attaboy” high-five as Prior was leaving the mound, and hitters don’t normally do that.

Take away the "freakin" outgreat

I know the Cubs approached this offseason counting on getting nothing from Prior, but he's still the biggest x-factor on the team, and this news is getting me unbelieveably pumped for the season to start.

I still haven't learned my lesson about optimism either.

Borat sucks. That is all.

Prior is healthy. Cool. Prior not....well...we still have Dr. Daniel Jackson.

Hmm, you mean, there's actually a chance that a vast majority of Mark's injuries were flukes and he'll return? It's as if almost all his injuries were out of his control. Like someone ran into him. Or he got an unavoidable linedrive ran into him.

Crazy thoughts, almost as if he may have just been hit by that once in a blue moon injury that almost EVERY pitcher gets somewhere in their career, and all the extra injuries just piled onto it to give him the label of brittle.

We all hope so, we sure all hope so.

This is Priors year to take or leave. He wants to prove himself. Go get 'em, man. :D

I definitely agree with the gist of your post but, just point of fact, he ran into Giles, not the other way around. Prior was the baserunner.
