with tickets going on sale this Friday, a few years ago there was a way to open more virtual waiting rooms by hitting a few keys on your PC. I have tried to find the post, but can not find it. Does anyone remember how that was done? I am going to get tickets to at least one game this year and see how this new team plays. Thanks for any info in advance

If I remember correctly, you can open up one of the virtual windows, and then copy and paste the link from that window into a new tab. The control-N thing doesn't work anymore.

Copying/pasting doesn't work for all the time. Sometimes tickets.com disables the URL bar in the VWR window. It's still possible to get the address of the VWR and open up more windows, but it can get complicated for those who aren't good with computers.

Yeah, it's just pasting the VWR URL into new windows.

Usually, but not necessarily. As referenced above, tickets.com has javascript that can remove the URL bar for VWR windows. I don't recall them using it on Cubs ticket sales in the past, but they have used it for other events.

I'm sure there's a plugin for Firefox that can disable such a javascript. There's probably one that can keep them from disabling right clicks and CTRL-N, too.

They disable right-clicks, but you get the URL from T icon link. Or somewhere like that. It usually doesn't take very long to find the address and someone usually posts it.

Yep.

I know that tickets.com activates some dummy VWR URLs that will constantly count down from 30 seconds and never let you in. They do that because in the past there was a way to go directly to the ticket buying screen by changing a few characters in the URL - as far as I know there's no way to do that anymore.

You'll never get a dummy VWR if you click on the T icon, of course, so there's nothing to worry about if you don't alter the URL.

I don't know if they have employees post the dummy URLs or not. If you're going to open multiple windows, it's probably best to get the URL yourself from the T icon.

Anyone get a wristband yet? How was the experience this year? Did they use the stadium club this time or the weird building on Clark street?

Don't speak such ill of the old Byrons building!!!!!

And thats a shame if ctrl + n doesn't work anymore. I feel like I remember there not being a url bar last year. What is this "T icon" you all speak of in order to get the url if there is no url bar?

Also, what do you think works better firefox or explorer? That would be great if someone could find a plug in for firefox that allowed you to use ctrl + n.

you can right click on any window to get the url that you are looking at....in firefox it's the page info...in IE it's properties...should work to copy and paste into new windows...at least i hope it will, heh.

Just looking at the spring training tickets, I'm pretty sure it's the same for regular season tickets:

-In the schedule, right-click on any home T icon and copy the shortcut/link location. It should look something like javascript:void(openTIXXWindow('http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2007/03/15/seamlb-chnmlb-1&agency=MLBST', 'home')); Alternatively, you can also get this from the html source code on the schedule page.

-Then all you do is delete the javascript to get the url of http://purchase.tickets.com/buy/MLBEventInfo?gameid=2007/03/15/seamlb-chnmlb-1&agency=MLBST

-You then just open up a ton of blank browser windows or tabs and paste the url into the address bar

-The last step is to wait for the website header to change from Virtual Waiting Room to Chicago Cubs Schedule (or something along those lines). If you have a ton of windows open, just wait for the V to change to a C. That way, you won't have to bother actually checking each window.

Obviously it isn't that link, but you have plenty of time to get it. The VWR opens at 9:30 and the tickets don't go on sale until 10.

Of course, the url might be somewhere else come Friday morning, but it doesn't take too much work to find it. You can't right-click within the VWR since I believe they have that disabled. But you can still get it before you go in.

Is anyone going down for wristbands? I've heard they are still selling some of the garage items like lockers etc and I was wondering how big these were? I've heard they are only $100 and I would gladly pay that if i could find more into on them. Hard getting there from Nebraska though.

For the first time this year I will have multiple computers in the same house to use, which leads me to this question: Will it work if I have 5 different computers all running off the same wireless router? I am pretty computer illiterate, and don't know if they block it to allow only one computer per modem or anything like that. Thanks in advance for the help.

Nope, you'll be fine.

Just a reminder that Cubs' tickets go on sale tommorow at 10 am CT. The VWR starts at 9:30 am. Also, if you haven't already, you better sign up for a cubs.com account because you'll need one to purchase tickets.

Mods, can we just make this the ticket success/failures thread like we've had in the past?

it seems like there is very little build up to the ticket sale day. it seems the last few years there have been big threads by the day before. i, for one, will not be buying any tickets this season. that's for the first time since 2002. if the cubs are decent i'll buy some tickets later in the season.

I'll try to get tickets in the bleachers for the Memorial Day game. I already have tickets for the other two games I'm going to attend.

If I get through early enough, I'll buy some Sox tickets so I can use the profits from them to finance my trip in late May.

They moved the wristband site for the third time in three years. Now, you have to go into Wrigley from a door pretty much right under the left field foul pole.

#1319 here.

I was in and out at about 8:15 this morning. No wait at all. Plus, they gave me a lame Old Style blue wool "drinking glove" just for being there.

I was able to get home opener bleacher box tickets by going online last year -- pretty awesome. I also got interviewed by Gail Fischer and was on SportsNite, haha.

So getting amazing seats is possible, you just gotta hang in there

I'm skipping my 10 a.m. class tomorrow to better my chances. Immoral? Probably. But I don't want to go the eBay route if I can avoid it this year.

Ditto. I'm gonna be in a computer lab with 3-4 computers going at the same time and probably along the lines of 40 windows open for each.

I'm getting a bunch of Bleacher tickets, some to sell and some to use.

This also seems like a good time to mention that if anyone gets a hold of more ticket windows than they need and can buy Phillies bleacher tickets for any of the 3 night games in that series (7/30-8/1), I'll pay you for them and give you my everlasting gratitude.

I just want it known that while everyone will be regaling us with stories of their successes and failures, I will be at McCormick Place at the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting working my work's booth. :x :x :x

And I won't have the chance to get any tickets until after 5:30 p.m.!!!!
