I can't think of a more annoying trend than the "fireXXX" websites that sprout up the day after a new coach is hired.

Does someone still think this is funny or cute? It isn't.

You should probably read what's on the site before criticizing.

In July 2001, I sat next to the president and lone member of the Robert Machado fan club.

The guy kept telling his little brother how awesome machado was. . . . was sickening.

I wasn't talking about the content of the site.

i disagree wit hthe worst moment for francis beltran, the loss he was part of against the cards was many times worse. if i remembe correctly we had a 9 run lead and he gave up 3 or 4 walks and a few runs

Was Damien Miller really that bad?

Nope.

Worse, actually.

If you say so. I will give you the fact he was bad with the bat, but his defensive abilities and the way he called a game is one of the reason the cubs made the playoffs that year. I dont consider him to be that bad of a player.

I'm thinking oldstyle needs to put down the Old Style when posting. :D

I think this may be one of my favorite quotes from the site.

If you went to a Cubs game from 1988 through 1990, you were more likely to nail Cindy Sandberg than you were to see Wrona collect a hit.

He did have a key hit when Maddux outpitched Dennis Martinez to clinch the NL East in 89' when the Cubs beat the Expos.

That's what I'll remember him for.

Is it weird that I totally got the irony of the joke, yet still clicked the link . . . just in case? ;)

Anyone want to guess who #1 will be?

I'm guessing Hundley or Hawkins.

That would depend on who was the worst compared to expectations/salary or who was literally the worst.

He's factoring salary and expectations into matters, which is why I chose those two. You could make a pretty good argument for Neifury, but the only people who thought he'd do well were kidding themselves. Come on, the guy put up a negative OPS+ (which I didn't even know was possible until I looked him up) in his first 45 major league ABs. That has to tell you something.

How about Bobby Murcer?

Salary/Expectations/got for Bill Madlock/Not very good for 2 years.

Edit: After looking up his numbers after I posted(which I do way to often) Murcer wasnt as bad as I remembered. I was actually trying to point out that the Cubs have been bad for along time and there have been a lot of guys probably more suited to be worst Cub ever than Todd Hundley or Latroy Hawkins. Hundley was terrible and a terrible signing. I cant imagine him not being in Top 5 though.
