So a .730 OPS = 8.3 million??? If we trade Jacque for nothing I am going to be infuriated.

Sorry that was my mistake. There are no dollar figures listed yet.

This is the icing on the cake for a very, very productive Cards off-season.

The central is ours!

Too bad Weaver didn't resign. According to a columnist down in St. Louis you would be bringing a power house to training camp with Weaver and Wilson.

Great signing by the Cards.

hardly great, decent i guess.

Wilson isn't anything special, but one million in this market is a great deal in my opinion.

I'm looking at the Cardinals offseason and one thing glares at me. Kip Wells as their #4 starter. Did Walt Jocketty develop a drinking problem after he won the World Series? Did he take a month off?

Just $500,000 additional possible in incentives!? What is going on here? One million over one year can only get the Cubs 40% of Henry Blanco.

Or 75% of a rehabbing Wade Miller. .

Who's the #3?

Wainwright and Reyes are the 2 and the 3.

Dave Duncan works very well with veteran type pitchers who are coming off some kind of injury.

In all honesty - this is an outstanding contract for the Cardinals. At that price, even a .260/.310/.450 line or something is one hell of a bargain.

Unless the manager is Baker.

A good deal for a 4th otufielder who could put up a .800 OPS, I guess.

It's not a division-changer or anything, but I wish we could pay our subs $1MM a year and spend the rest getting GOOD starters instead of Jason Marquis.

Who is #2 and #3 then?

I'd guess you've got Reyes up there...but Mulder isn't in the rotation till June at best...so you've got

1. Carp

2. Reyes

3. Wainwright?

4. Wells

5. Brad Thompson?

That's the only way I see Wells as their #4 unless I'm forgetting somebody completely. That's a pretty weak rotation no matter how you slice it.
