That question makes me hope I never run into those individuals when trying to discuss baseball.

But I bought you a beer! Doesn't that allow me some sound off time?

HOT

whoa whoa whoa.

I've never seen a picture of Carrie. Is that her?

If so, who cares what she writes?

I didn't see anything wrong with the question. The guy doesn't live anywhere near Peoria. I lived in Peoria, so I know the Chiefs have been or are affiliated with the Angels, Cubs and Cardinals. How is a guy from Chandler, Indiana supposed to know that unless he's a die hard baseball fan like us?

Can all of you name all the teams that have been affliated with each and every small town minor league club for the last several years?

Careful, there just might be a test. Heck, I don't even know who most minor league teams are affiliated with.

Fort Wayne? I don't know without looking it up.

I don't even remember who the Cubs were affiliated with when they weren't in Peoria. Someone will remind me in a few moments, and I'll say "Oh yeah!". But, the question wasn't that absurd.

I think it's absurd that a guy who would take the time to write in to the Cubs internet based Q&A wouldn't be able to figure that out on his own. Nobody has ever said anything about that ever. Did he really think he stumbled across this nugget? That tells me he's completely oblivious, and deserving of ridicule.

Well that's one way to alieniate a casual fan.

He is a casual fan, goony. Jeez, give him a break.

The casual fan should known that. Doesn't anyone think that if Pujols had been in the Cub system that Buck and McCarver would have reminded us of it ad nauseum. Furthermore, Joe Morgan would have shown us the graphic six times right before explaining what a shadow is and in between extolling the greatness of Davey Conception.

I'm not so sure of that. I think many fans have no idea of the breakdown of how the minors interact with MLB. I agree those guys would have mentioned it many times over but I really don't think the casual fan would know all the minor league info. Heck, I'm still learning stuff and I've been a fan for many a score!

You don't need to know how it all works to know that Pujols was not Cubs property.

If the guy cares enough about the Cubs to go to their website and ask Muskat a question, he's more than just a casual fan. A casual fan wouldn't even know who Pujols is.

If Pujols was in the Cubs organization, I'm not so sure we'd even be talking about this today. He probably would have faded to oblivion in Doube A ball.

Alienate a casual fan? Give him a break?

Give me a break. It was a stupid question. I'm not laughing in his face, I'm just agreeing with others who said it was stupid.

And IMO it's arrogance like that that pisses people off. I agree it's your right to think it's an uneducated baseball question but like Edward K maybe this is their way to see the light.

So we're concerned this guy won't join nsbb if we laugh at his stupid question?

Well, what' a casual fan? A guy who is investigating baseball cards on the internet, and sending in questions to the cubs website is not a casual fan. He's obviously very interested in the Cubs and has spent a lot of time and energy into his following of the team.

No but I do like casual or new fans to be able to ask a question without being mocked. Again, obviously it's your and other fans right to say what you think as it's mine to feel this way.

I don't know that I agree on that part. There are plenty of people investigating baseball cards for the profit of turning a buck that couldn't care less about said team or organization.

Probably so, but I've seen more than a few people use any information whatsoever in an attempt to make additional money on an item.

For the record, I don't get my information on the Cubs from ebay.

I'm going to agree with Goony on this. It's a pretty stupid question to ask on an internet Q&A.

Supposing Pujols had been a Cub at one point, there's no way on the planet even a casual fan wouldn't have known about it.

Assuming the casual fan tunes into national games and the playoffs, and considering the best player on a world series team would have been cast aside by the most "cursed" and inept organization in baseball history, don't you think it would be a staple of newspaper columnists criticisms, laments and jabs? Wouldn't it be a constant theme of sports radio? It's not like Lou Brock for Broglio or anything-Pujols has only been in the league for 6 or so years. The freshness of the stupidity would guarantee a constant chorus of criticism and mocking of the Cubs for bailing on the game's best player.

It's a stupid, stupid question to ask.
