If anything, all those ESPN guys picking the Saints actually helped the Bears. I felt all week that all the bandwagon analysts were jinxing the Saints.

We basically had everything rapped up the last month of the season.

When you have won everything and the games don't mean anything, you lose the edge. Even if you try and say, we need to play tough, there is always a natural letdown.

Nope. I kept my mouth shut during the week. I just sat back and listed to how the Saints were going to come into Chicago and light up the BEars, and I just kept it quiet. To think the Aints could actually come into Chicago and get a victory, whatta joke.

Everybody stepped up on the D. Mark Anderson was the defensive MVP. He played like a star. But Alex Brown and Wale both played very well. I thought Scott did a good job in the middle. Tank and Idonje had flashes along side him. Much different team when getting pressure from the front 4. Chris Harris had a very underrated game. He got picked on the Bush TD, not much he could do about that. Even if he goes over the pick instead of underneath, he still probably gets beat along the sidelines. Urlacher was Urlacher. Briggs and Hunter made plays here and there. The CBs were solid. The biggest pass plays were not on the corners. The Saints did get the 40-yarder early, but Tillman was in the right position, just didn't have the footing to make a better play on the ball.

Chris Harris had a very underrated game. He got picked on the Bush TD, not much he could do about that. .

 

I blame that play on D. Manning. I really hope he improves next season.

Where's OMC?

 

After sobering up, I've been coming to several realizations:

 

1) This is only the 8th winning Saints season I've seen in my lifetime. We got to the NFC Championship game for the first time ever. My grandfather, season ticket holder from 1967-1995, never got to see them get this far, so i guess I should be feel blessed.

 

2) I'm encouraged for the future. Drew Brees is 28, Reggie is 21, Deuce is 28, Colston is 23, Henderson is 24, Copper is 25. They'll be back and I'm just glad that I can look forward to expecting them to do well.

 

3) I'm glad we were beaten by a franchise with a long and proud history like the Bears, as opposed to being beaten by some nappy expansion team like the Panthers. That would have been like the Cubs losing to the Marlins. It just wouldn't be fair.

 

4) I'm an NFC person and I'm not a sore loser, so I'll be pulling for the Bears in the Super Bowl.

 

The Saints are definitely not a 1 year wonder. They have a great core on their offensive side. If they have a defensively focused draft, look out for the next few years.

So why don't you be a humble victor and be thankful that you are going to witness your team in the Super Bowl. There are 30 teams with all their millions of fans who won't get that opportunity.
