The Celtics were fined $30K by the NBA for excessive contact with the Durant family.

Celtics GM Danny Ainge sat next to Durant's mother at the Big 12 tourney.

The funny thing was CBS interviewed Durant's mom and she claimed not to have even known who little Danny was.

Kobe with his third straight 50+ point game and he'll go for #4 tonight. There is no doubt in my mind that if the Lakers make the playoffs, he should be the MVP this year. He should have won it last year but the voters incorrectly gave it to Nash.

This is Kobe's league and everybody else is just playing in it. Fourth straight 50+ point game tonight for Kobe. Only Wilt has done this before. Unreal.

Let's see if he's still whining about Gilbert being a chucker.

While that quote was a bit ludicrous, Kobe is shooting 46.7% this year while Arenas is shooting 42.1% but Kobe's taking half a shot more per game. And in his recent streak of 50+ point games, Kobe's worst shooting night was 48.6% and his other three were all well above 50% so he's not just chucking up shots just to do it.

AP[/url]"]WASHINGTON -- Gilbert Arenas was admonished by the NBA for making $10 bets with fans during the Washington Wizards' loss at Portland on Wednesday.

..............

Arenas made the bets as he bantered with fans throughout the Wizards' 100-98 loss. He was booed during pregame introductions and whenever he touched the ball because he had promised to score 50 points against the Trail Blazers.

After the game, Arenas said he bet a fan $10 that he would make the game-winning basket. He missed badly -- throwing up a shot that fell short of the rim -- and finished with only 19 points.

"I owe somebody 10 bucks," Arenas said. "I bet a fan if I had a chance I would make the last shot."

Arenas later elaborated on his nba.com blog, saying that he made $10 bets with two fans during the game and had obtained their e-mail addresses so that he could pay them off. The NBA since has removed the references to the bets from the blog.

Wow.

How is that any different than what Pete Rose did? (from a conceptual standpoint, I'm assuming Rose put big money on his teams)

The most obvious difference is that Rose wasn't stupid enough to talk about it on a blog on the league's website.

Other than that, though, I'd imagine the only significant difference is the amount of money on the bets. That and Rose's bets were about the outcome and not individual plays.

Stupid Dirk Nowitzki has to go and get food poisoning and doesn't even play against the Kings tonight so not only did I not have a chance to see him play in person but I couldn't interview him after the game because he wasn't in the arena. I was so disappointed about that. Oh well.

Arenas is done for the year. He'll be sitting next to fellow All-Star Caron Butler on the bench for the rest of this year and playoffs.

OUCH!

He got hurt because people disrespected him.

Watching the Spurs vs. Mavs game. All I have to say is Joey Crawford is the worst official/ref/umpire in all of sports. He gave Tim Duncan a foul for laughing while sitting on the bench. This guy should be fired. He really thinks he IS the game. BTW I have no opinion of either team. He is just awful.

In the race for the final two playoff spots in the West, the Clippers have flinched. They lost at home to the Kings today. They are now a game behind the Lakers and Warriors with two games to play for each team. The Lakers host Seattle tonight and go to Sacramento on Wednesday; the Warriors host Dallas on Tuesday and play at Portland on Wednesday; the Clippers play at Phoenix on Tuesday and host New Orleans on Wednesday.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand the Lakers. I do have a liking for the Clips and Warriors though. Golden State is looking pretty good right now, but the Clippers blew a golden opportunity today. Now they have to hope for the Lakers to lose to Seattle.

I'm the same, I want the Clips and Warriors (yay Baron Davis and Matt Barnes) to make it.

Kobe dropped 50 on Seattle on 18-25 shooting to secure a playoff spot for the Lakers thanks to the Clippers loss. Even before today the Lakers looked good because if all three teams finished with the same record, the Lakers held the tiebreaker. The Clippers do hold the tiebreaker over the Warriors for the final spot but they'll need GS to slip up here. I'm pulling for the Warriors because a Dallas-GS first round matchup would be pretty interesting.

I'd rather have a Golden State-Phoenix series. The final score in each game of that series would be something like 130-125.

Not to mention, according to Tim Duncan---who btw has earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt---Joey Crawford was trying to goat Tim Duncan into a fight. And IMO, if that is true, then Crawford should be suspended for the rest of the yr (playoffs included) for trying to initate a fight.

What Joey Crawford did, was beyond dispicable.

I just saw this. They just had Mark Stein on Outside the Lines and said in all likelihood, Crawford will be refereeing in the playoffs and could be doing Spurs games. Now, I don't have a big problem with him doing games in the playoffs, but why on earth would the NBA even consider having him referee a Spurs game? I mean, come on, you're just asking for trouble then.

I agree. Crawford crossed the line. No player deserves this from a ref. Not even Sheed.

He needs to be reprimanded and have it be made public. Id love it if they had video or audio of what crawford said to Duncan.
