He tore three of the four ligaments in his knee according to the LA Times. And they're still saying this is a potentially career-ending injury. :|

Yeah, he's from Peoria.

I dislocated my kneecap my senior year of high school. Was playing first base, there was a throw from SS on the home plate side of 1B down the base line. I crossed over with my right leg (left-handed) to go for the ball and my left kneecap completeed detached. It was literally floating on the left side of the knee socket. The only sound I can compare it to when it happened was the crunching of peanut shells, somethnig you might hear as you walk into Texas Roadhouse or something. I doubt I will ever have anything more painful happen to me than that.

I don't know the extent of his injury, too early to tell now with the swelling. I had to have surgery to re-attach it. This happened in April, but by September I was working out again for baseball in college.

It has come out once more since then, but quickly went back in place.

My knee hurts just typing all of this...

Excuse me but it's your patella, not your knee cap. :D

I'm sure it did.

Friggin Sixers, beating teams like the Suns and really threatening to move out of the bottom three in the NBA. Why'd they actually have to get back a productive player (Andre Miller) in the Iverson trade? Now they're going to blow their shot at Oden/Durant.

I saw Dwayne Wade on the news in Chicago last night. They showed a clip of a commercial he was doing where he is playing basketball with this 10 year old girl phenom. She drove to the basket and got swatted by Wade. I wonder if this was filmed before his injury. It had to be right?

15 straight for the Mavs.

I think they should lose just so they can start another 10 game winning streak. I don't think 3 is enough yet.

Personally, I'd like to see them win out.

I wouldn't. 72-10 is the benchmark. Plus those Bulls would have ran these Mavs.

new playoff seeding says division winners aren't automatically the Top 3, but they are guaranteed homecourt in the first round, right? So a division winner can't be seeded lower than 4th?

A division winner has to be 4th or better, yes. They are not guaranteed home court advantage though-home court in the NBA goes to the team with the better record, not the team with the better seed.

so what's the point of being the 4th seed if the 5th seed gets home court over you?

Well, it's not really about being the 4th seed for home court-if they didn't put that rule saying they couldn't slip any farther, than a team could win its division and be the 7th or 8th seed and have to play one of the top 2 teams in the first round. Being the 4th seed means they at least only have to play the 4th best team in conference at best (because the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seeds would have better records than the 5th seed). That's the advantage a division winner gets in not having to face a top team right away-they don't necessarily get homecourt though.
