This is what happens when you are developing a QB. He's going to crap the bed against a really good team on the road.

He made the right reads most of the game. Samuel jumped 2 routes and all 3 INT's were thrown slightly off of where they should have been. He didn't heave up prayers to DB's. He tried to make plays and NE's D made better plays.

Lovie is saying all the right things about staying with Rex, and I hope he holds true to that. Few QB's don't go through growing pains. If the Bears are smart, they'll deal with them now in order to have a above average QB in the future.

Playing Griese does nothing. Behind this offensive line, he might get killed. Rex was "hurried" about 20 times in this game and hit hard about 10. Griese somehow has poorer mobility than Rex does. Griese can't throw deep, so DB's will sit on short routes and the running game will be less effective. We might win games against crap teams 13-3, but Griese isn't going to win you a Super Bowl. Rex could win one or lose one.

I'd take the guy who can win one over the guy who can't any day.

I'm not anti-Grossman, but I'm not sure that some coaching staff talk about benching him being considered wouldn't help some. He doesn't seem uncoachable, just frequently makes rookie mistakes. We were spoiled in those first few games that we forgot he is very inexperienced. And I think if the reality were there for him that Griese was closer to playing, he'd not try to force balls in where the situation (off the back foot, across the field, double coverage) indicates that another read (or throwaway) needs to be made. I guess I'd rather see him throw the ball out-of-bounds than attempt to thread the needle or launch one 40+ yards downfield on a 3rd down "punt".

That being said, if Griese gets a chance, outside of mopup, I don't see Rex getting back in a game this year.

The Bears are still sitting pretty for home field advantage, especially since the Bears hold the tie-breaker right now over all of the other teams (either head-to-head or conference record).

EVERYONE STOP BLAMING GROSSMAN!

Do you realize Ron Turner is a freakin hack! A moron so dumb he got axed from U of I.

HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO COUNTER A BLITZ!

SHOTGUN, ROLLOUT, NO HUDDLE...FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Plus someone needs to inform him Benson is the best RB on the team!

TURNER OFFERS NO SCHEME TO COUTNER A BLITZ! HE SUCKS MAJOR!

I'D RATHER HAVE SHEA AT THIS POINT!

DID I MENTION

RON TURNER SUCKS!

its a crappy loss but if someone told us that they would take 2 of 3 this road trip, we wouldve taken it without a second thought

Bingo. Let's see how they look next week before pushing the panic button. They did a nice job coming back after the Miami loss.

Did we really expect them to go undefeated; to sweep 3 straight East Coast roadies?

Grossman has his issues; but let's wait and see.

Agreed again. The Grossman haters will ride hard this week, but really, what can you accomplish by playing Greise? Greise was there as a BACKUP in case Grossman got hurt. Until that time I would be very disappointed with the coaching staff if they listened to the talk radio junk and benched Grossman. Grossman is the future, and he's showed a hell of a lot of promise in his first full year.

We took down two tough New York teams, and lost to one of the best teams in the NFL, and a 3 time Superbowl QB. Their defense is stellar, and they were playing at home. I'm not saying there weren't things that went wrong, but I'm very far from the panic button.

Preach it.

They ran the frickn ball down the throat of the #2 run defense in the league. The gameplan against the 3-4 is to run between the tackles and guards and not go wide against the 4 LBs. They did this superby. They sucked at first but they stuck with it and it paid off, i liked the patience there. They could of done better with cedric but thats a tad bit of splitting hairs. I was really happy with game plan of the runs today.

I would of like one or 2 more screens but jones frickn jumped early and blew that one. Samuel had a very good game in secondary. Give the Pats some credit.

I hate the Dick Jauron. "we didnt execute" excuse (in other words 'we called the right plays but the guys fd it all up'). But that was the major reason they lost today.

At no point, did I see any attempt to throw off New Englands blitz package. Evertime it's like "well, lets hope we can block them all this time" Why not try the shotgun again, they only attempted it twice vs the Giants,(yeah, it didn't work those 2 times, but that doesn't mean you abadone the foramtion). What about runing a quick no huddle set? Its hard for a defense to execute alot of blitz packages from the no-huddle because they don't have the time to organize themselves.

Sorry, but I'm pinning this loss on Turner, I want him gone.

M aybe this has already been mentioned but why in the hell did they kick the pointless field goal? If they go for it and dont get it, then the Pats are still pinned back, so why not take the chance? Stupid pointless fieldgoal.

I thought that as well when they kicked it. Should have just gone for it.

The shotgun package would of been a nice change of pace ill agree with that. But the Bears only getting sacked once shouldnt set the panic button either.

if I recall correctly, the Bears were really high on the linebacker they drafted in the lower rounds who was then injured in I think the last pre-season game. he's expected to make a strong return. maybe he will be to Briggs as Briggs was to Colvin.

although I wish Briggs would take the Colvin route and take a little less money to play for a great team. I don't see it happening though.

You're referring to Jamar Williams out of ASU. Still gotta take a Day 1 OLB if Briggs is gone, preferably 1st-2nd round.

I possible cap-wise, I'd rather re-sign Briggs, then trade/release Oguneleye to save $$$(again there might be a cap hit). This guy has been non-existant of late. I'd rather start Anderson at LE personally.

The lack of the shotgun is driving me nuts. I don't want to live and die by it, but considering we've seen it only twice the whole freakin' year is ridiculous. Sure seemed to work alright for the Pats today. Mix it up!

they did take Dusty and he was hurt in the same game.

I think a strong safety is the priority, and at some point they have to start builing the O-line in house.

franchise is a good point. any other candidates need to be protected?

What are the ramifications of slamming a franchise tag on Briggs?

Ummmm, I think he gets guaranteed to be top 5 salary at his position. Then if anyone wants him, they must send 2 1st round picks our way.

I know Angelo doesn't like the franchise tag, but I would seriously seriously consider it in this case. Briggs is extremely good, and he's as good as gone after the season.

Get used to it. Ron Turner is a terrible coach. He absorbed alot of the Wanny stink during the 90's, then ran the U of I football program into the ground.

He is not the answer as our offensive coordinator.

His gameplan was fine today IMO. It was lack of execution. We can't block blitzes (a problem all year), and Rex was incredibly inaccurate.

Being an NFL coordinator has little to do with head coaching a Big 10 school, so I'm not sure why you keep bringing up Ron Turner's U of I record. Turner actually did what few other U of I coaches have ever done---win a Big 10 title, so even if it was a valid comparison which it isn't, it still wouldn't make sense.

He didn't play/didn't have to try in the 4th quarter of five of those games. Against Minnesota, he still led the winning TD drive. Against Arizona, he was in gunslinger mode (partly a fault of the play calling). Agianst Miami, he had no choice but to put it up in the air at the end.

He then played well against the Giants and wasn't given the opportunity to play well against the Jets (but didn't play poorly). And then this game.
