It always seemed like Dusty wanted to win with the Cubs because that would give him another story. "I was on deck when Aaron broke the Babe's record..." - - "I won with the Cubs". Lou sounds like he wants to win period, I don't think he cares that it's the Cubs who haven't done crap in 100 years. I really don't think we'll hear much of Dusty's "tip your cap" post game comments anymore either.

So if Piniella wins the World Series this year with the Cubs, do you think it's automatic that he wins Manager of the Year?

He'd likely be right there, since he'd have taken them from 66 wins up to aroung 90.

Unless the Cardinals or Astros get really busy I don't think it's going to take 90 wins.

Are you kidding me?

Jocketty can make the playoffs with a team he bought using the money he found in his couch...

Anyone got an update on Gelndon Rusch??? Is he done with this lung thing?? (random thought as i saw his name mentioned)

Last time I heard (which was a while ago) Glendon would have to be on blood thinners for 6 to 12 months-while on those blood thinners, if he got hit by a baseball off a bat it would be potentially fatal.

I believe the award only takes the regular season into consideration but if the Cubs are positioned to get to the postseason in 2007, after having the worst record in the NL, he will be a strong contender for Manager of the Year.

There has to be someone worse than JH.

Since very few posters gave him props for signing his own free agents (ARam, Wood, and Miller), I would think he should be ahead of the GMs that couldn't even sign their own free agents (Soriano, Drew, Schmidt, Zito, CLee, etc.).

Evidently you missed the ARAM getting resigned thread. You have to go to page 2 to see it, but I think the last 30 or so pages of the thread are the vast majority of posters giving props for resigning ARAM.

There were some props being given, but nothing compared to the beating he was taking saturday night/sunday morning. That thread was about 25% speculation, 25% worry, 40% Hendry bashing/drunken vitriol and 10% tepid foot-in-mouth praise/relief.

The deadline had passed, there was no reason to believe that he would be signed as a cub the next afternoon. To say that the beating Hendry took on this board saturday night was unjustified is ridiculous (im not saying you said it was unjustified). BTB said that very few posters gave him props for signing his own FAs. I think if you go back to those three threads after the respective announcements had been made, you will find very little other than props.

Bashing Hendry for not re-signing Ramirez was justified at the time that it seemed that was what had happened. I too was pissed/disappointed. The drunken rants were so melodramatic that it was actually funny, though.

Thanks, it was quite entertaining. I hope you avoided a hangover.

I did, by continuously drunkenly ranting on this board and drinking water for nearly an hour.

In fact, i got up and made a two and a half hour drive six hours after I finished my drunken ranting.

If I didn't have a small child to take care of in the morning, I would have engaged in some drunken ranting myself.

I fear my days of drunken anything are on long-term hold, however.
