BYU is a good team. IMO, probably one of the top 25 teams, but since they're in the Mountain West and have 2 losses they won't get ranked.

ranked where? Because they're #25 in the AP and #27 in the Coaches.

They're number 25.

But I have a hard time believing they're better than a lot of the 3 loss teams from power conferences.

I saw them play against B.C., and the teams were very even. B.C. was very, very lucky to get away from that game with the win in double OT.

They also lost to 4-5 Arizona, and their best win thus far is either TCU or Tulsa.

Those are both good wins. Those are both two-loss teams, and TCU was undefeated and nationally ranked at the time, plus the game was at TCU.

Those are weak 2 loss teams, and one of their losses itself was a bad loss to a bad Pac-10 team. If BYU runs the table then they deserve more credit, but right now they still have yet to play the 3 best teams in their conference(besides themselves of course), so their schedule is lacking.

First game of the year. Haven't a lot of people said we shouldn't punish Arkansas for getting absolutely crushed at home by USC in September, because they're a lot better now than they were back then?

Not me, the first game counts just as much as the last one.

FWIW, a much worse than Version 2006 ND team went to play a much better than Version 2006 Air Force in 2002, and ND creamed them. The score was only 21-14 because ND had two stupid turnovers in their own territory that led to TDs, but the Irish dominated the entire game. Air Force was top-15 coming into the game, unbeaten, and were actually favored for reasons that are completely unknown to me.

I'm just saying the altitude can be a factor - there is a reason Denver teams have the greatest home-road record disparity in every sport. don't take that as a pick against ND.

It definitely does, and the Air Force style of offense doesn't help either. The difference between that 2002 and 2006 teams is that team was heavily defensive oriented, and this one is offensively oriented. I think ND will win, but they have to execute-if they get behind early, it can be very, very hard to catch up to a team like that sometimes.

Big games in the ACC title race on the Atlantic side. Wake Forest hasn't won in Tallahassee since 1959 and Maryland has a Miami team at home who's trying to avoid a bowl on the blue turf. This brings up an interesting point though. If Georgia Tech were say, Miami, and Wake Forest were say, Florida State, would people call the ACC down this year ?

GT is 7-2, a 4 pt loss at home to the Irish and a road loss at night in Clemson . They have wins over VT, MD (leading the Atlantic), and Miami. Tech is ranked 18th. Say that was Miami's resume, Tech is probably ranked 12th or 13th just based on name.

Take Wake Forest, 8-1, who's only loss came to Clemson who they had the lead on in the 4th qtr. They have wins at Ole Miss, Cuse, and BC. Wake Forest is ranked 19th. That team is 8 minutes from being undefeated. Say that was Free Shoes U's resume, Wake is probably ranked 8th or 9th.

Bowl games and rivalry games in November will settle the argument, but I don't think it's a down year for the ACC. Rather, it's a down year for the name teams in the conference.

Rutgers will win

Louisville wins by more than 10.

Only 3 teams have scored 10 points on the Rutgers D this year

I would be funny if Louisville ends up losing to Rutgers or Pitt. Of course it would be funny if Michigan loses to Indiana or OSU loses to Northwestern.

I think Ball State and Illinois took care of any chance that IU and NW had this weekend.

Ryan Field will be sold out with about 25,000 people in red.

It'll be hell.

Second week in a row that the OSU faithful outnumber the home crowd :D

I'm glad I was sitting with all the OSU fans this past Saturday 8)

And how many of Rutgers' opponents have averaged 492.6 ypg this year? I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say 0.

It'd be nice to beat Oregon State AT Pasadena, especially since the Bruins then have ASU at Tempe and USC. It'd be really unpleasant to finish the season with 7 losses.

Of course, politics aside, finishing the season 4-7 would really put Dorrell on a short leash for next season.

Man, we're flirting for 2nd to last place in the Pac-10. :(

Especially when the last place team is Stanford.

What worries me is if Michigan beats Ohio State and Louisville continues to win who is going to be number 2.

I can't see how anybody would put OSU ahead of UL. It would totally suck for both Louisville AND Michigan. Michigan would of beaten OSU at Columbus and then have to follow it up with another win over OSU to win the NC, thats pretty ridiculous.

If Michigan doesnt win on Nov 18 and even if the game is close they do not deserve another chance either (unless Texas is next in line, Texas wont move in front of UL unless they lose). They had their chance and blew it, the way the system is set up they need to live with it and move on and let someone else have a crack at OSU like UL.

That true, if Texas is near the 2nd team and Ohio State is the one, what gives Texas the chance for a rematch and not Michigan. They had their shot, now it's Louisvilles turn if they run the table.

Penn State's weird, hard to measure season continues against the lowly Temple Owls. PSU is 6-4, has a terrible offense, but the 4 losses came against teams with a combined record of 37-2. If they had any offense at all they may have upset OSU or Michigan, and definitely could have beat Wisconsin. But they don't, so here we are, assuming they'll beat Temple and hoping they'll beat MSU to at least get a halfway decent bowl bid.
