I couldn't believe my eyes when I read those headlines off sportspyder yesterday. I guess he can still ride the crest of his slightly better than .500 W/L as a manager - but anyone who would hire that legal imbecile to manage anything more taxing than a Dairy Queen deserves what they get.

Mike Cameron becomes the first of the Padres to publicly ask for Baker to be manager.

Link.

“This is my opportunity to vouch for Dusty Baker,” an excited Cameron told San Diego reporters. “I'm vouching for him. I've always loved Dusty Baker, been a big Dusty Baker fan.”

Of course Cameron "loves" Baker, it is because players can get away with murder under Baker's watch. If San Diego hires Baker, then their position in the divison is what they deserve.

I agree with you. I truly believe that is why players want him as manager.

Wasn't it announced recently that Brian Giles and his high OBP would lead off next season? I wonder how long that will last if Johnny B gets the Pads job...

I haven't found the equivqlent of NSBB for the Padres yet, but here is an interesting Padres blog. There's others out there too. Doesn't sound like all of them are pleased.

affirmative action works.

Had me until that part.

it gives millions of minorities and women chances that they would not have had otherwise. it won't be necessary forever, but it's still necessary. we're less than a generation removed from the civil rights amendment, remember. racism exists in the workplace, it must be forced out by any and all means.

Please stop there. AA is good, but is also bad. I tried to leave it at a quick snippet of my experience. Don't make me go further by defending it without acknowledging it's problems.
