I don't get intentionally walking the number 8 hitter. Unless you're playing the Yankees or something, it just doesn't make a lot of sense.

Dont you do that with 2 outs and man in scoring position? Seems good to me.

I'm really tempted to go catch up up with The Office episodes I've missed this season rather than continue with the game.

Or you could watch the Clemson-VT game. VT is up 17-7 in the third quarter.

Lasorda will throw every cuss word at you if you do.

Makes sense when the number 9 hitter is the pitcher.

When the number 8 hitter is Aaron Miles? I really doubt that. It's not like you need to worry about getting a double play or something. I suppose it's possible that walking a guy like Miles to face the pitcher has a negative effect on the Cards run-scoring chances, but I'm skeptical.

I would've let the pitcher pitch to the #8 hitter, I'd rather take my chances of Miles vs. Suppan compared to the next inning of facing Suppan and then Eckstein, rather than Eckstein, Wilson, and Pujols. With the way Duncan has been hitting (or hasn't hit), Pujols would likely leadoff the inning after that.

Thats always the gamble and sometime worth the risk. I play it safe and count on bonderman doing his work and making them 'start over' the next inning. If the pitcher sucked i might take the risk, but id play it safe in the WS. Your up by a run.
