Just as I stated in another post< Macha will be fired and his replacement will be Bob Geren. Macha lost his job because his ego clashed with Beane and Beane needs to place the blame somewhere because its his MO just like the Gm at Toronto.

Really? b/c the story on ESPN made it sound like the players HATED Macha and some even told Beane they didn't want to come back next year if Macha was still the manager.

So as I try to tell people in another post > that the new manager of the A's will Bob Geren. The Macha firing had to come, to much ego between Beane and Macha and Beanes' MO is not be blamed for anything much like the Gm of Toronto.

So, you try to tell people you're full of bs?

The San Francisco Chronicle, citing team sources, reported earlier Monday that Macha's job was in jeopardy due to his trouble communicating with his players and his "callous attitude" toward injured players.

Macha's relationships with a number of players have been the source of Bay Area stories for several seasons. Macha almost didn't return to the A's after last season, but was later rehired.

"For the last two years, our relationship has deteriorated to nothing," back-up catcher Adam Melhuse said, according to the Chronicle. "He didn't even speak to me for well over the last month. For me, as a backup, all I want is communication. Every other coach, I get along with great, but with Macha, it is not an exaggeration to say he doesn't speak to me -- not 'Hi,' not anything.

Sounds to me like Beane's ego is DEFINITELY the overriding factor in all this.

You guys have to get over to WSI and read their take on this. The Beane haters are out in full force. From the thread...

It's not homer-happy, it's not small-ball, in the playoffs, it's all about CLUTCH.

I'm so glad I don't post there. What a joke.

i don't even know what you're trying to say here. are you yet another person trying tirelessly to grind an axe with any and all affiliated with Moneyball?

RSF pointed out the WSI forums...interesting stuff. This is my favorite.

It's become increasingly obvious that the secret to Moneyball is nothing more than "get a Zito, Mulder and Hudson when they're cheap". Oakland's success is nothing more than that.

Yeah, that's pretty much the goal. What an awful philosophy!

Didn't thiey just go to the ALCS without Mulder or Hudson?

Yeah, and they've had a continuance of success since Beane became GM. But I was just wondering how you could knock on the philosophy of "get good players for cheap." That's pretty much the goal of the game.

Has anybody else seen or heard any speculation on Dusty for the A's job?? I heard Charley Steiner talk about it on XM today and in the Trib today they quoted Dusty as saying he would love to talk about the job. Man would I love to hear that conversation!

Billy - " Dusty what are your thoughts on OBP?'

Dusty - " O B what? I played with Henry Aaron and he didn't talk about no OBwhateveryoucallit. Man don't go clogin' my brain up with that stuff! What about fishin' Billy you ever go fishin'?"

The A's need a new manager, and former Giants skipper Dusty Baker says he'd "be interested."

You should post here more (just don't talk about the Sox too much :)).

Don't you wonder if sweet Lou is thinking to himself, "dammit! should have waited a couple more weeks!"

Not over the A's. He was ripping into "Moneyball" in the one of those ALCS games, don't know if he'd get along with Beane. I doubt he'll like playing second fiddle to Beane. And he'd want a bigger budget, that's why the Cubs job appealed to him.

I think its a safe bet that dusty and beane's egos will never fit in the same room. Good to see the un-enlightened finally realize that moneyball is about cheap production.
