What has anyone seen in Rodney Carney that makes them think he's going to be any good?

Haven't seen him much in the NBA, but I loved his game at Memphis and his numbers are alot better than Thabo's.

I'd like to see John Paxon take some more heat.

How about complety screwing up the 2006 draft. Tyrus Thomas was a bad pick. His offensive game is so far away it isn't funny. He did not fill a need. Before the draft I wanted Brandon Roy who was most NBA ready. Now imagine if the Bulls had Roy, they could easily trade Gordon + Deng for Gasol. How about this lineup:

PF Gasol

SF Nocioni

C Wallace

SG Roy

PG Hinrich

That lineup takes the east, IMO. Then with his 2nd pick in the first round he could have taken Rondey Carney as a SF off the bench. Just a terrible draft. Paxon hasn't made a decent move since the 04 draft. I wish people in Chicago would stop treating him like some kind of god. He looks good(in comparison) because he isn't Krause, but he is a below avg GM. The talent on the court speaks for itself.

I still think I'd rather have Deng, Gordon, Thomas, Thabo over Careny, Roy, Gasol. Yeah, the latter might be better right now, but in the long run I'd rather have Deng and company.

Really? Agree to disagree I guess. I like the balance in my lineup. Inside scoring with Gasol, and a 2 guard that can score in the post as well.

Oh, well, what's done is done, but I have little faith in Paxon at this point.

I agree. You're lineup is more balanced and that's why I said it's probably a better team for the present. However, I just don't want to trade Deng. I think he's going to be a real special player. He already puts up nearly 20 ppg, plays solid defense, shoots a high FG%, and moves great without the ball. I also think Thomas is going to be a very good player in the NBA.

We outscored ATL 28-8 in the 3rd

84-58 Bulls with a little under 9 left. Good start to the 2nd half of the season.

They didn't make a field goal the whole quarter.

Was that game on WCIU? It wasn't on any of the channels I normally see them (WGN,Comcast,Comcast+,TNT,ESPN).

Oh well. Glad they won.

Is he ok? I saw the injury on SportsCenter and they said it wasn't that serious.

In his post-game press conference, Skiles said it wasn't serious and Gordon would have returned to the game if they had needed him in the 4th. He's expected to play against the Cavs this Thursday.

Good to hear.

Also heard on ESPN that there are some Bonzi Wells-for-Sweetney trade rumors around.

Yeah I heard that too. Also, I've been hearing a lot about PJ Brown to the Mavs or Suns and the Bulls inquiring about Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Zach Randolph.

Wow, Zach Randolph would be awesome. Just like Gasol, I think he'd be too expensive, though.

I don't think PJ gets traded unless the Bulls get an inside scoring presence first.

all ESPN has is Anthony Johnson to ATL for 2nd round draft pick and a Juan Dixon/Fred Jones swap

Hmm-ex-Pacers going everywhere today. Thought of the day-never acquire an ex-Pacer. Many have wanted to be shipped out to find greener pastures, and very few if any have ever had any success again.

From Yahoo Sports

Chicago Bulls general manager John Paxson has told league sources on Thursday morning that he just isn't willing to "mortgage his future" for a player – Pau Gasol – whom he isn't convinced can make the Bulls a championship contender.

Paxson reminded people that this would be a different issue if Gasol was a 24-point and 12-rebound center, but the truth of the matter is that the 7-footer is a 20-and-9 player. The Memphis Grizzlies had held out for a package that included either Luol Deng or Ben Gordon.

I'm glad Pax stood his ground.

That would have to mean he isn't convinced his current team is a contender. Which it probably isn't, given their inability to distinguish themselves in a weak conference.

I'm pretty sure the Grizz wanted BOTH of those and that's why Pax didn't make the deal. That's what I'd read everywhere else up to now. Made no sense since Deng, although not a post-up big man, is an 18-and-7 player already, and the man's still only 21.

We had the chance to add a big guy and we didn't do it.

At the price of two from Hinrich, Nocioni, Deng and Gordon. No thanks.
