who is criticizing? I simply stated that other Eastern Conference teams are also better than last year. That's no knock on the Bulls

Some other poster was saying for the past week how pax should be fired because he didnt draft roy. And then make some trade he wanted to see made where we lose Deng to get Gasol

paxson is the best GM in the city. And Deng > Gasol

Angelo is the best GM in Chicago, and it isn't even close. When Paxson builds a team that can make it to the Finals, then I'd say open the debate.

Angelo has been to the playoffs 2 straight years, the Bulls are working on 3.

Angelo has been to his leagues respective final round. Paxson has not.

if that's your criteria then I can't have a useful debate with you. It's akin to saying Jeff Hostettler was a better quarterback than Dan Marino because Hostettler won a Superbowl and Marino didn't

We are not comparing players, we are comparing GM's and the quaility of team they have built, respective to their league.

The no arguing with a ref rule is a joke. I've seen Kobe yell at refs countless times and not even get a T while Duhon gets the double T for that. And how the hell does the ref miss Arenas crushing Duhon with the foul call.

I still disagree, but I don't think Angelo is bad . Angelo went from 13-3 in his first year (at team he inherited) to 4-12, then built his way up. Paxson inherited a total crap team that went 23-59, but has drafted brilliantly and has had the team in the playoffs in every years since

He was drafting brilliantly, don't ask me what happened this last draft.

the jury is out. I know people want to see more of Thabo and TT, but this team is in a playoff race and you can't use games to develop rookies anymore. Yes, I'd rather see TT late in games rather than Griffin, but that's on Skiles, not Paxson. People on this board clamored for Roy, but this team already had 3 guards and needed a big man.

But we could have used Roy to get a big man, by trading Roy himself or Gordon. Roy is the total package. He has all 3 offensive aspects:

He can score with is back to the basket

He is a great shooter

He can drive and create.

Plus he is a good defender.

Bulls really putting it to the Wiz this quarter. I'm not impressed with Washington at all. Arenas is good, but so what? He's not going to score 50 a game in the playoffs. Bulls are beating them without Noc...

With this thought process, Ken Williams is the best GM in the city. He got his team to win a championship. Of course many of his moves have been questionable, but his team won a championship. There are many other things that need to go in to judging a GM.

Yes, we know you don't like the selection of TT but it doesn't make it a bad pick. And Thabo appears to be a great find. Just because you didn't get who you wanted (and believe me, I thought Roy was easily the best NBA-ready player in the draft and I'd prefer Brandon to Ben Gordon) doesn't make it a bad draft.

WHY CAN'T THEY PLAY LIKE THIS EVERY NIGHT?

Exactly what I'm thinking.

Still, two wins in a row against two of the top teams in the East. If we can beat Detroit in Detroit on Sunday, I will be extremely pleased with the direction that we'd be in.

Daily Herald[/url]"]"Chicago needs to make a trade to be a player in the East," Barkley said in his role as NBA analyst on TNT. "I’m watching all these (sports) shows and keep hearing 'You can have anyone but Luol Deng.' Who is Luol Deng?"

"If you have a chance to get Pau Gasol, you have to let Luol Deng go. Pau Gasol is a perennial all-star, and if you put him with Ben Wallace, that’s a formidable inside tandem because he needs a big, strong guy to play with him."

Somebody needs to explain what perennial means to Charles. Gasol has one All-Star appearance in his six seasons.

I'm not seeing the "obvious-ness" of trading Deng for Gasol.

Gasol:

35.2 min/g

20 pts/g

52.8% FG

25% 3pt

73.5% FT

9.3 Reb/g

2.3 blks/g

Deng:

37.1 min/g

18 pts/g

52.4% FG

33% 3pt

76.5% FT

7.2 Reb/g

.5 blks/g

Where's the big gulf here? Luol Deng is also 21 years old. Gasol is 26. Gasol is also the only thing that team has---they're relying on him for pretty much everything. Bulls have other weapons to spread around the scoring.

This would have been a bad deal for the Bulls, unless somehow it was sweetened up or something. Straight up? No way to I trade a guy with more upside like Deng for a guy like Gasol, who is at his peak now and not even really outperforming Deng by much.

Everyone loves Barkley, but I wouldn't trust his judgement on personnel moves. There's a reason he never went into coaching, or into the front office of any teams. His judgement is questionable.
