He would be more relaxed, I guess. Hopefully that will raise his numbers. 'But an infield of Lee, A-Rod, Ramirez, and Barrett would be awesome. Whoever at 2B..

As Goony said in the gamethread, the right scenario could easily result in an ARod trade, at which time we'd be stupid not to get involved.

I'm not sure what it would take to get him. The Yankees might make us take Jared Wright or Carl Pavano in return, though, and we'd almost certainly have to give up some really valuable players.

Off the top of my head, if we didn't take anyone back other than ARod, I'd think it would be something like Prior, Pie, Marshall and Izturis or Moore.

i don't really care if his numbers raise.

I don't know how I'd feel about it, but would Prior and Fox net A-Rod?

Move him back to short, amd trade Marshall and Gallagher or Veal for Andruw Jones.

Sign Zito and/or Shmidt and call it an offseason.

I have no idea what to do with Neifi Jr. though

Jones

Murton

Arod

Lee

Rameriz

Barrett

Jones

Cedeno/Theriot

Z/Shmidt or Zito/Hill/?/?wood?

That would be a team built for the post season.

My personal opinion is that neither of those deals would get the players that you wanted. That's just IMO, but for example what the Braves were looking for before the trade deadline (when they were actually a little more desperate because they wanted to trade him before his 10/5 rights activated) is more than Marshall and Veal.

I have no idea either. I'm terrible witht this stuff, but a guy can dream. Can't he?

Well, if it's dreaming, that's wonderful to do..just don't be upset if it doesn't happen that way :D

That would be a wonderful lineup though.

I wouldn't trade veal for jones. I would trade any minor leaguer for ARod.

THat title is very misleading. I thought this was about Fransisco Rodriguez.

Same here. Let's hope the Yankees lose the next 2 with A-Rod going, oh, 0/9 with something like 6 K's

I think it is a very realistic probability that A-Rod could be traded. His honeymoon in the city of New York has definitely ended and he has become the media (and the fans) whipping boy.

I don't see how we could get him without Zambrano or Aramis involved in the deal.

Agreed. I COULD live with Scott Moore at 3rd base, if it meant getting ARod. But I don't see how the Cubs can get ARod without parting with ARam. It's not feesible otherwise, IMO.

If the Cubs re-sign Aramis I don't think they can trade him right away. But I don't know how the rules work.

depends if he files for free agency or not. they could probably trade him now if he agreed not to file or signed an extension with the yankees. this is where I think jim needs to show some creativity. something I'm not sure he is capable of.

Does anyone think Torre might be fired if the Yankees have another early exit? I think he would be a upgrade over anyone thats currently available. Then ARod and Torre can reunite in Chicagao where hypocrites like Giambi wont tell Torre to be tough on ARod.

I think Torre would retire. I'm not really sure he is that great a manager.

The only way we can get this deal done is if there is a third team involved, like say the Marlins. We give the Marlins say Rich Hill and prospects or some other combination of prospects. They send Cabrera or Willis to New York. New York sends some prospects to them as well. They send ARod to us, and we send some prospects back to the Yankees. We'd also pick up most of ARod's 16M or whatever the Yankees owe.

Sure that scenario is a pipe dream, but it's like the only scenario plausible without giving up Ramirez or Zambrano.

I dont think he's the greatest, but would probably be better than whats available.

For the price of Torre we could get a very productive player instead.

I'm not sure about that. I think Torre has benefit from having an owner with deep pockets, and a very good stuff. Torre hardly does any "in game" stratgey. I think if the chance the Cubs ever got Joe Torre, the Cubs would see the "Pre-Yankee" Torre who went 888-1003 with the Mets/Braves/Cards and the "Yankee" Torre. IMO, Torre, dare I say, isn't as great of manager as the NY Media (and ESPN for that matter) hyped him to be. In fact, I believe Girardi would be just a good of a manager in 2007 as Joe Torre, wherever Girardi ended up.
