If Oregon wins and LSU wins, I'd still have LSU ahead. LSU would have one loss to Auburn and Oregon would have one loss to Oklahoma.

They DESERVED one loss to OU, but Oregon is undefeated.

Vance knows that, he (and many others) are just operating under the assumption that Oregon has a loss.

Since the polls are all based on opinions, I'm operating on the opinion that Oregon has one loss and therfore will rank other one loss teams ahead of them, in my opinion.

Unfortunatly in the Coach's poll that will not apply. All they (most of them) do is have an assistant look at scores and records and make a vote. Or vote for their team no matter how bad. I often wonder why so many teams get only one vote for the top 25, and some of them even have losing records. I think the whole system is flawed, but the Coach's is worse than anything.

I think Oregon will go to Berkeley and beat Cal by 10+.

Then kill UCLA by 30 in Eugene.

Do any of those teams have to play anyone good other than USC. I am not impressed at all by Cal after being destroyed by a team from a real conference.

That game couldn't have gone any worse for Cal. Even if they lose a close, tough game on the road they would have received some respect. Now everybody will go back to the Tennesssee game. It sucks but I understand why it happens.

Regardless of what you say about Oregon beating/losing to Oklahoma, they did play very well against an out of conference opponent from a major conference.

That being said, I'm picking Cal to win a high scoring entertaining game.

I guess I am an SEC guy. Other than Southern Cal, I just don't have a ton of respect for the so called good teams out west. I also think Southern Cal is looking increasingly suspect.

Oregon can beat USC. USC definitely is suspect this year.

Cal would be much better if their best defensive player wasn't out for the season (and defense, especially DBs, isn't something that the Pac-10 has depth for, outside of USC).

I'll be at the ND game this weekend - game no. 22 that I've been to now, and presumably win no. 15. It's nice to play a team with a loss on their record for the first time this year.

I will be there as well. You tailgating? I have never been to a Stanford game there before, and it will be nice not to hear an opposing band and have more ND fans in there.

I was supposed to be at the 'Cuse game, but I can't go now (long story) so but I think the ND game is a nice replacement.

I don't know if my dad (who's taking me) is tailgating, but I know we'll be wandering through the tailgate areas. I went to the 1998 Stanford game and I don't remember seeing hardly any Cardinal fans there.

I think a lot of it has to do with the Band being banned. The opposing teams band section is taken up by alumni band members, and I would imagine that would cut down on a good majority of Stanford fans, since I think it limits their ticket availiblity as well.

Why is their band barred from here? Did they do something?

*clueless*

The band once was suspended for urinating on the football field, and in 1991, at rival Notre Dame, a band member dressed as a nun and conducted the band with a crucifix instead of a baton.

Of course, right now they are suspended from playing even at Stanford.

You see, that's something I should have already known. That's pretty darn bad right there.

Then again, that's not the only team to rub ND the wrong way in recent years. Heck, the entire BC series has been called off (at least for now) because of the Eagles trashing ND's visitor locker rooms the last couple of visits.

I'm surprised they have a problem with LSU, but I'm not surprised they like Oregon and ND, who have played fairly tough schedules so far.

LSU doesn't seem too low. And not at all shocking that the BCS doesn't like West Virginia.

BC series is back on as of next year through at least 2010.

The band also mocked the potato famine and the Irish and Catholic culture in general. They were originally banned from playing at ND, but now are not allowed to enter the stadium when ND visits Stanford, due to further mockery of Irish and Catholics. That ban at Stanford may be over now.

Also the urinating was not done by the whole band, just a few members after the game in the corner off the field. Was kind of blown out of proportion.

Here is an older article about it.

NDistops: The BC series was actually abandoned because they left the Big East. That is why they are called Fredo on NDnation. Although I am sure that tearing up the locker room and the field didn't help that at all.

I think it is kind of ironic that the Stanford band made fun of NDs Irish and Catholic history. I am guessing that less than 10%of the football team is Catholic and even less are Irish.

Talking about conferences not being that good, The Big Ten is starting to look like the Big 2 again this season. Has anyone else in the conference beaten a ranked team this year? Plus both Northwestern and Indiana lost to double A teams.

I've noticed that. The Big Eleven always seems to be really, really good or really, really bad, and this is one of the (admittedly rare) bad years.

I wouldnt go as far as saying they are bad. I just think that some of the early season hype had them as the best conference. I still think Iowa, Penn St and Wisconsin can play with a lot of teams. Purdue and Minnesota are solid and will make bowl gams. MSU, Illinois, Indiana and Northwestern are bad though. How many SEC schools are this bad? Maybe Kentucky

do you really think Indiana, Northwestern and Illinois could beat Vanderbelt or the Mississippi schools? I dont. Michigan St probably could have before their letdown, I dont think they could now.

I'll give you Miss. State. They shouldn't have a program. The other 2 are decent.
