I don't want Baker back but I do think it's a miscarriage of justice that Hendry got an extension and therefore gets more "playing" time than Baker when they both have done an equally horrible job (and I probably hold Hendry a little more responsible).

That's like asking if I want Chinese Water Torture. Drip after drip on my head is like day after day of Dusty and his astonoishingly bad in-game decisions and outrageous quotes.

Both have the same result: They both make me go insane.

who has killed the cubs more, hendry or baker?

if you answered baker, you answered wrong.

Well, if you buy into the idea that Dusty abused and pretty much destroyed our pitchers in 2003 (and the way he handled Z today shows he hasn't learned a damn thing), then you could definitely make a case for Dusty.

What the hell give him a 2 year deal and see what happens. In dusty we trusty right? All kidding aside I not only want Dusty gone but take Hendry and MacPhail with you.

I didnt want him in 2003 and thought the team did allright in spite of him.

I do agree that Hendry has done a complete butcher job on the Cubs organization since 2003

I'd like to see Dusty back for the following reasons:

1) He's done a great job with the Cub's young pitcher.

2) Clever lineup construction.

3) Teh toothpicks.

4) He understands that vets are the only "real" option.

5) He's proved forearm sweatbands can be stylish.

6) Prefers guys with speed and low OBP over slow base cloggers.

7) Dude.

Who's with me?

I would like Dusty to return to manage the Cubs for next season.

I would also like someone to come over to my house and kick me in the crotch.

After that, I think I will make small cuts between my toes with a utility knife and then soak my feet in rubbing alcohol.

There are probably ton of casual Cubs fans who still pledge loyalty to Dusty and want him back.

My friend's boyfriend is one of them. He also like having Neifi on the team. :pukel:

ok so I guess I am the only one. It wouldn't make me extremely unhappy if he returned. I am indifferent really. I would enjoy the story that 2007 would be if Dusty came back won it all and then flipped off Chicago on his way out. I guess I am a sucker for irony.

In all reality, Dusty isn't as bad as one would make him out to be. If Dusty hadn't been the Cubs manager yet (lets say he was still the Giants mgr) and you could choose any current MLB manager, how many would have put him in the top 10? I know I would have and I was excited to see him take over in 2002. 4 years later and his sucess has been questionable but there has been some sucess. Like it or not, under Dusty's reign the Cubs had back 2 back winning seasons for the 1st time in 30 years and they came the closest to a world series as they had been since '45. Those you can't just throw away.

Is it time for him to go, yes. Does he deserve the hatred he recieved, no. Dusty was a lovable California surfer, laid back guy that was out of his element in the big city. He should get somewhat of a respectful goodbye if we are to call ourselves the "best fans in the game"
