  1. On the Score Mike Murphy (Eccch!) called the Cubs the national laughingstock for how they played so far. I don't see how their 0-2 is any worse than the Yankees or Philly. After all, they each got smoked in one of the games worse than the Cubs did. And the Cubs are facing the team with the best record in the NL. Which is why I don't know why the Cubs were favored in the first place.
  2. Before you bring your 10 month old to a ballgame, consider what happened to Mike Coolbaugh first.
  3. Jericho wote: Huh? They never received the email. That has nothing to do with the content of the email. Either the mail box was full, bad email address, or they've got internal problems with their system. Are you sure it's AOL and not a trib address? Either way, your assumption that you got the bounce message because they didn't like your criticism is wrong. I sent it through the "Ask Paul" box on the Trib's website. How it went to AOL I have no idea. Since it took about 3 or 4 days to reply to me, I guess they have real bad problems with their system.
  4. Garwilly: The OP's name IS doormat. Maybe He needs a floor installed? Not hardly, pal.
  5. I got this email returned to me undelivered, from when I submitted something to "Ask Paul". I didn't know van dyck's or sullivans email address so I sent it this way. My comment to them is bolded. ____________ The original message was received at Sat, 5 May 2007 21:51:38 -0700 (PDT) from s05.rc.trb [192.168.120.190] ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... Deferred: Bad file number Message could not be delivered for 4 days Message will be deleted from queue -------- This is from the chicagosports article posted after the 5/5/07 game that the Cubs won vs. Washington: "Cedeno out as Guzman arrives By Dave Van Dyck Tribune staff reporter May 5, 2007, 9:10 PM CDT When the Cubs activate Angel Guzman for Sunday's game, infielder Ronny Cedeno will be sent to Triple-A Iowa, meaning outfielder Felix Pie will stay for a while. While the club made no official announcement, Cedeno was seen packing his bags after Saturday's loss. He was hitting .097 and said he didn't want to talk about his demotion." Is the proofreading or writing at the Trib so awful they can't even get basic facts like the Cubs winning correct in their own stories? Maybe Zell should hire bloggers to write the sports articles for the Trib. URL: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ I guess they can't take criticism.
  6. Doesn't Melvin(?) have more resources to make a deadline deal with?
  7. I'm going to assume this stems from Stone being on Boers & Bernstein today. If so, I'll try to fill in some of the blanks based on what I heard in the car today. He said Lou is realizing that the Cubs have a lot of good players on the team, but the pieces don't necessarily fit well together. They also have no faith in their farm system and what it produces, otherwise they wouldn't have signed Mark DeRosa. They should have gone with The Riot as starter at 2nd, planned for EPat in the future, and batted Pie 1 or 2, not 3 as he was coming up thru the minors. They can't afford to trade Jones because Floyd likely won't stay healthy, leaving them with Izturis and Pie (if he stays up) as their lefties. That covers most of what I remember, I'm sure there was more. Hard to argue too much with him.
  8. October 26, 2005 comes to mind.
  9. I was saying "boo-urns".
  10. How has he produced? Wouldn't it make sense to actually wait until the season starts before we decide he has produced tremendously? Or for that matter, if his comeback is successful or not?
  11. When I saw the title, I thought this had to do with Cialis.
  12. Hendry should be glad he has Piniella and Hughes working for him. From what I understand, they insisted he go to the hospital, and Piniella drove him there.
  13. Looks like someone set up a CafePress shop just for this purpose: If you like the Cubs hiring Piniella, there's this link: http://www.cafepress.com/sweetsweetlou If you didn't, there's this link: http://www.cafepress.com/soursweetlou
  14. Personally, I'm afraid Jim Hendry will. As Yogi Berra would say, "It ain't over 'til it's over". I won't believe he's gone until I hear it.
