Which happens first:

a) Baseball announcers and analysts stop using win-loss records to talk about pitchers

or

b) Football announcers and analysts stop using win-loss records to talk about quarterbacks

It doesn't happen in football as much as it does in baseball, but it's still annoying.

I don't mind the latter as much. A lot of QBs will have W-L records better than they should have, but it's not very often you see a QB that is clearly good have a bad W-L record. It's not near as luck of the draw-driven as pitchers' records.

The Giants would be smart to keep their offense in the no-huddle the rest of the season. Eli is just destroying defenses when he runs out of the no huddle like he did in the fourth quarters of the Philly and Seattle games. I mean, look at his stats when running that offensive scheme:

Against Philly, no huddle: 11-14, 129 yds, 1 TD

Against Seattle, no huddle: 11-13, 198 yds, 3 TD's

to be fair, the no huddles against seattle were when seattle was up 40+ points. not sure that's a fair sample.

good point. I still think it proves that he is more than capable of running a high paced offensive scheme, and that maybe the Giants should adapt toward that.

brady throwing 55 times for 320 yards but only getting one td pretty much ended my fantasy teams hopes this week

really needed him to throw up 3 td's or so

They just said Chris Simms had his spleen removed after the game today

Apparently that's what happened when he got taken out in the second half. But he came right back in.

Honestly, I hope he's alright, because he seems like a nice guy and all, but I'm hoping Gradkowski takes the opportunity and runs with it.

Can you come back from a spleen removal and be a professional football player? I could easily be wrong, but it seems to me that would leave a person somewhat anemic.

The reports during the game tonight talked like he could return in 2-3 months but regardless of when he returns it would be possible for him to return.

I wish Simms all the best, but I have to say, if this had to happen, better for it to happen after he had played Carolina.

I wouldn't play football again, but that is me. Accroding to webmd "The spleen is a useful but nonessential organ." Whatever that means.

He's played over 3 years now, so he should eligible for that unbelievable pension the NFL gives out: League minimum salary of 230k for life...wow.

Yes, the most important thing football wise (I'm pretty sure) is recycling hemoglobin. Humans who didn't have access to unlimited amounts of meat needed it to not be anemic. Now I don't know if it's possible to replace this recycling with huge amounts of fresh iron or not, but I'm going to bet on some level of (managable if you're not a pro football player) anemia

I wouldn't worry about it, Chris Simms was pretty much going to play his way out of the NFL even if he had a spleen.

Likely. Maybe the Bucs can see what Major Applewhite is up to these days

The Bengals celebrated victory last night by getting arrested again.

How does Odell Thurman celebrate a big Bengals victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers? By driving around Kellogg Avenue blasted out of his mind of course. Thurman sure does know how to party, apparently his blood-alcohol content was so high that he was given a "Super OVI" (Operating Vehicle Impaired). Here are is a quote from today's Enquirer:

Cincinnati Police Captain Dan Gerard said Thurman tested as a "high tier" or "Super OVI," which means his blood-alcohol level was in excess of .17 - more than twice the legal limit for drunk driving in Ohio, which is .08.

Gerard said there were two other Bengals players in the car with Thurman, but he did not name them. The car belonged to "another Bengal," not Thurman, Gerard said.

great. maybe someone should have told odell that david pollack has a [expletive] broken neck and him returning would be pretty helpful.

Nothing better than watching my favorite team blow the game while nursing the world's worst hangover in the lounge at Bally's in Vegas. Your boys look sharp Rocket. Now if they can only stay out of the hospital and the penitentiary, you might have a deep playoff run to enjoy.

if ryan freel has taught cincinnati sports anything, it's that you can have a dui and still be productive.

Great name, marginal QB skills.

I could be wrong, but I thought I saw Major up in the booth for someone.....is he an OC now for some school?

All-time leader in passing yardage and touchdowns at UT... maybe not a guy who was bound to be an NFL QB, but he was effective as a college quarterback.

yeah, Rice... The Major is paying his dues.
