This isn't a poll about which person you'd most like to see as president - it's which person you believe will be elected president in 2008. I know it's a crapshoot at this point, but I'll be interested to see what people think.

 

I'll list 10 names, 5 from each party. To get the 5, I'll pick the 5 leading candidates on the website tradesports.com, which allows for the trading of real money on political futures. Or, you can pick "other" and let us know who you think this dark horse will be.

I picked Mark Warner. But I honestly have no idea. I do know that McCain has attacked fellow Republicans too much to be nominated (and to a lesser extent than the following two, is more moderate than the right likes to see), and Giulani and Condi have no snowball's chance in hell because they're far too liberal for the right.

Edwards, I have no idea if that's a good choice or not.

 

EDIT: Good choice as in a good answer to the poll, not if Edwards would be a good president. Of course I don't know about Edwards to make that distinction either, but you get the idea.

I think it really depends on who is the Democratic nominee. Giuliani and Rice are still more conservative than Clinton and probably Edwards. Also I think fiscal responsibility is a bigger issue with both sides than msot people think. Personally I'd like to see someone that isn't going to spend as much money. That usually means a Republican but the Bush Administration has spent money like never before.

 

If Giuliani can convince the voters that his policies will be fiscally sound that will be good enough for most true conservatives. Furthermore, for people that have strong feelings about abortion if they don't vote Giuliani they probably won't vote at all. The swing votes he would likely get should more than make up for that.

Very Good Call. All though I still think Clinton is way to strong in the East and West Coast right now.

 

Isn't she from Chicago? She can go back there anytime.

 

All the next president is going to do is make their people richer like Bush did for his backers. Does it really matter who gets in?

Unfortunately, Freddie will not be old enough to be eligible as a presidential candidate. Neifi will be 35 in 2008, which would allow him to pass the age requirement - but the vice-presidential candidate must be constitutionally eligible to become president, and since Neifi was born in a foreign country, he isn't.

 

Bottom line - you need to pick other scrubby baseball players to nominate :D
