Kljestan, Donovan and Beckham looked like the only class out there, really Landon was the only one who did it for 90 mins.

 

 

 

 

 

Also, Edgar Castillo has been called up for the Nov friendlies.

This referee in the Real Madrid-AC Milan match might be blind.

 

He just gave a questionable penalty for Milan, then disallowed a perfectly good Milan goal that was a great effort by Pato, then didn't give Real a foul call when Kaka was basically tackled by a Milan player.

Christian Vieri came out and said that Inter president and a few others made up the Calciopoli scandal that sent Juventus down a couple years ago. According to him he has documents that prove it. Inter could be screwed if he is telling the truth and has documents to back it up.

Wow. Chicago set up to advance in front of a sellout at Toyota Park. What a match this has been.

Plus they'll host the conference final after RSL upset Columbus Thursday.

I never do these writeups for Fire games, but this one was fantastic.

 

-FSC either fixed their awful sound issues all season, or the crowd tonight was massive, because that was the loudest MLS broadcast not in Seattle all season. Great crowd and you have to love that kind of support. Even Bretos and Sullivan were decent tonight.

 

-Nyarko just outworked the defense late. Cuau finished that one well but that was all Nyarko.

 

-Marco Pappa is going to be a pain in the ass for our left back next cycle. He's really good.

 

-Matt Reis is a good keeper. Shalrie Joseph is a great player.

 

-Castro should have seen red for his play out. Cut or not, that was a cynical way to stop play. The Revs were lucky.

 

-MLS needs to fix its salary structure so players like Chris Rolfe stay stateside. He's never going to figure in the USMNT scene, but players like him (good, not great) should be staying in MLS and continuing the progress of the league.

 

I'm going to try and score tickets for the RSL match.

It was MLS at its near-best. The weather won't be quite as nice next weekend, but hopefully they can get another sellout.

Apparently, ESPN asked Nate Silver to develop a rating system for world soccer teams, the SPI. His reasoning and methodology are explained in other articles.

 

I would normally take it with a grain of salt, but I have a huge deal of respect for Silver.

Its very well thought out, and considering its impossible to get this perfect he does a great job in counting for multiple factors and varibles. Anything is better than FIFA's methodology especially for seeding.
