I know nothing about soccer so maybe one of you guys can shed some light...

Is there anyway Conor Casey is at an appropriate level of conditioning/weight for world class soccer?

Just started watching. How was the 9th minute tribute to Chuck D?

Tribute was really good. Noticeable from the crowd, for sure.

He's a soft looking guy for soccer for sure, but he's in midseason, plays 90 regularly so the endurance is obviously there. I think that's just his build.

Well, he's probably better than most of their other options, including Brian Ching. Usually, Davies would be there, but, well, you know.

I don't think I've ever been so pumped about a meaningless tie.

EDIT: Except for Onyewu. That looked bad, and I'm hoping it was just a sprain.

OK, maybe it wasn't a meaningless tie, because now Costa Rica is going to have to play Uruguay, and Honduras is through with an impressive win in El Salvador.

Also it made us lone leaders at the top of CONCACAF instead of tied with Mexico (which would have edged us on goal diff without Bornstein's goal).

That's crucial to have any kind of a shot at a seed (not that we do, it just only helps, can't hurt).

It's so awesome that all of the bitching and stalling that their coaches did that probably added a minute to the end of the game ended up costing them the game.

Also, this just completed a pretty good choke job. At the halfway point, they were in first place in the group and finished with three losses, a draw that they were seconds away from winning and one win over T&T.

With the United States playing a man short following after defender Oguchi Onyewu tore a tendon in his left knee...
Onyewu fell down on the slick turf and was diagnosed with a torn patellar tendon, an injury that usually requires a recovery time of three to four months. Because the U.S. had used its three substitutes, he couldn't be replaced.

Very true, I want to see what kind of celebrations are going on tonight in Honduras.

It didn't look good, but his reaction was even worse. If its just 3-4 months he can still play in the WC, but his level of fitness is not going to be what it should be. Its not like he is playing much but its better than rehabing.

Its been a really f'ed up couple of days now between the win, Davies, Gooch, then getting the draw tonight.

Yeah. I'm definitely relieved it wasn't 6-8 months which would keep him out of the WC. It's still going to be close and any setbacks could keep him out but if he's out four months, that means he's back in February, which should be enough time to get back into shape.

I think Gooch'll have plenty of time. He won't lose all his conditioning. They'll have him doing some form of cardio -- maybe swimming or biking.

Was at the game... really, it's hard to describe. This wasn't awesome like the Mexico game. It was very frustrating. We should have blown those guys out. The ref was also CONCAF terrible. Still, I'm happy with the draw and I'm glad that Honduras is in.

They must absolutely love us right now.

Definitely love the tie, but I feel a bit bad for Costa Rica. I saw it was in the 5th minute of stoppage time, how many minutes of stoppage time were there? Couldn't be much more than 5. Poor Costa Ricans, at least they still have a shot.

Also, Germany salvaged a late (meaningless) draw with Finland to maintain their crazy sounding status of only ever having lost two WC qualifiers in club history.

The goal was a fluke as well.

Podolski had a big grin on his face after he scored, because he knew how silly it looked on TV

They said there were five minutes of stoppage time and the goal came around 94:30. And if their coaches wouldn't have complained as much during regular time - the ones who ended up getting sent off - there probably wouldn't have been that much time and we wouldn't have had enough time to get the tying goal. Personally, I love that attempted stalling actually came back to screw that team.
