Everyone hear what happened to Cech? Ouch.

The collision didn't look really bad, at least from the angle that I saw, but yikes.

It was a crazy game, Cech busted his head in the first few minutes of the match. His replacement Carlo Cudicini, got completely knocked out cold in the 90th. John Terry put the gloves on for the last few minutes of the match.

It was like "Any Given Sunday" all over again.

Wow. Watching the replay on ESPN Classic of the Arsenal game. Henry had a goal waved off in the 86th minute which would have tied the game and was given a yellow for a hand ball that was very hard to see on TV.

If ever you've wanted to see someone be French, his post-match interview was wonderful.

And Chelski wins the game 1-0. Barca did not look very good on offense, but they got a few chances that went by.

Yes. I forgot to tape it this morning. I really need to get one of these tivo things everybody's always talking about these days.

Chealsea and Barcelona will play again two weeks from now. Hopefully that will be a good match since I missed most of todays

I'd say it will be a much better game since it will be on the more quality "pitch" of the two. Chelski's field was in horrid condition. I just hate that Eto is out for Barca. He's such a difference maker. I still think that Lyon is the team to beat in this year's Champions League. They've looked very impressive thus far and I'd love to see a Ligue One team win it all.

Maybe someone can explain to me the merit of a 2 "match" series. With goal differential being the main decider, isn't this just a 180 minute match with 90 minutes in Chicago and 90 in New England?

I guess since you are able to start fresh with your starting lineup in hte second game it really is considered a game, but I just think the whole concept is silly. Basically what I'm saying is that it is no big deal if the Revs score here in the last 4 minutes of the game. All it would do is ensure that Chicago has to win the next game. If we had won 7-0 this game, the second game was merely be a formality.

Fire take it 1-0! Exciting game that finished on a goal kick and save by Pickens.

The thing about the 2-game series, and why many teams would prefer to be the 3rd seed instead of 2nd, is that the approach for each game is different. The 3 seed hosts the first game, giving them homefield advantage when the goal for each team is to simply win. The second game is all about playing to what happened in the first game. Since the Fire took the game 1-0, they'll go into New England playing more for a tie, although a 1-0 victory doesn't give them much cushion.

So if game 2 ends with the Revs winning 1-0, does the game go into PKs or extra time?

30 minutes of extra time and then, if needed, PKs. Same with the conference championship game, although that's just single elimination.

It would have been nice to get a second goal going into New England. Although, if Dempsey's ankle prevents him from playing in the 2nd leg, it might not matter.

That was a very good free kick from Mapp, although Wynalda was dead on about the wall doing a very poor job.

At least those guys didn't pee themselves. They looked downright scared after that free kick (of course, I would be, too). Because of the placement of the ball, it looked like the best they could have done was take it right in the side of the face.

I guess there's no update on Dempsey's ankle yet.

Apparently Shalrie Joseph has been suspended for the game after elbowing Guerrero.

Which is crap. Guerrero tried to go through Joseph. Getting elbowed in the face is incedental contact when you try and run through another player. No other league in the world would have suspended Joseph for incedental contact.

And as far as Klinsi goes...let's hope it gets done.

He wasn't trying to go through him. They were tied up and then Joseph got possession of the ball. He may not have intended to get Guerrero in the face, but the elbow was certainly intentional:

If either Klinsmann, Peckerman, or Carlos Queirós (assistant head coach of Man U) don't accept the job, then I'll be severely disappointed and won't expect much in 2010.
