Bremen was really dominating that game up until the equalizer. Didn't think Barcelona was going to be able to do it.

Bah. Just got in.

But 2-0 Fire in the first half! Jaqua and Herron (is there anything he can't do?) with the goals

Shave heads properly if I remember correctly.

Must've done poorly on purpose.

Mapp and Herron both pulled late. 86th minute with a 2-1 lead...

Sanneh to Thiago for the clincher in the 88th minute! 3-1 Fire!

The Dewar Trophy is coming back to Chicago.

Congrats Fire! They are now the only 3 time winners from the MLS right?

I'm going to the game on October 7th against Columbus. Very, very excited to go to Toyota Park and see my first Fire game. Major propers to the wife for coming through with tickets for my birthday. :D

Get back just in time to see Armas with some beautiful footwork in the box before a fantastic pass from the end line back out across the middle to Rolfe after the GK had already committed. 1-0 in the 4th minute. The game is on CSNC.

And the next 86 minutes suuuuuuuuuuuuucked. 4-1 Columbus the final.

Of course, some favor the third playoff spot over the second.

Sad news:

US Soccer assistant coach Glenn Myernick dies at age 51. He suffered a heart attack.

Wow.

I saw he had a heart attack last week, but that's terrible.

He was a pretty good assistant to Arena for the USMNT. It's unfortunate that his last games with the team were in Germany.

My sympathies go out to his family and the USMNT family.

In a stufy of contrast, Eddie Johnson was suspended for the rest of the season by the Kansas City Wizards:

So you have Johnson, who's transfer to Benfica was blocked by MLS, sulking, turning into a head case and careening towards to Clint Mathis career arc, and you have Clint Dempsey, who's responded to his transfer to Europe being blocked by scoring in a bunch of goals for surging New England.

What a waste of Johnson's talent.

Ugh. No Champions League action on TV (only ESPN Deportes) today or tomorrow. Apparently ESPN feels a need to show college cheerleading and dance team competitions on ESPN2 instead.

I came to this thread kind of wondering about how much support soccer has here and this was the first post I read.

Not sure if you were looking for a recap show or something but Matchday 3 is next week (Oct 17 and 18). The last matchday was Sept 26 and 27.

Here come Huddersfield, football league. With a second win a row, and a fifth game unbeaten (and the first win I've seen since April) the mighty Terriers move up to 10th in League One, only two divisions off anyone caring at all.

New England beat Columbus 1-0 yesterday, clinching the #2 seed in the east. Game 1 will be next Sunday at noon on ABC. Game 2 will be the following Saturday night.

The Fire close out the season against DC United today at 4 on ESPN2. Watch.

If the Fire play against NE like they played against Columbus last weekend (BTW, Toyota Park is awesome), they won't stand a chance.

Gah, I got 3 football games and a Bulls preseason game going for me, and you want me to add this to my TV watching queue? Ok, I will give it a try.

There are plenty of USL teams they wouldn't beat if they played like that.
