You cannot kill a player because something happened. If Mikel did something wrong, it is not my job to kill him, it is my job to educate him.

(Jose Mourinho)

Well, I enjoyed it.

To those of you with Fox Soccer Channel: watch the West Ham vs. Tottenham match from today. Best game I've seen all year.

It's on tomorrow afternoon at 2 PM central time. Tape it.

That goes for you guys that don't like soccer. Watch this match and you'll see what sort of game it can be.

It was a great game. Tevez's reaction after his first goal in the EPL was priceless.

That was a great game. Wow. Just wow. I feel for the losers (so as not to give away the result).

Now those who haven't watched it know it didn't end in a tie which, considering how the game ended, could spoil it. So though you tried not to give the result away, you sort of did.

I caught the last 5 minutes of the game when it aired live. I almost fell out of my chair.

Also, Beckham is reportedly out two months for Real Madrid. He's also losing any last chance to play for the England squad as they are getting ready for Euro 2008 qualifiers in a few weeks.

Ah, but in calling the game an example of how great soccer can be, sethuel1 is seeking to demonstrate to an American audience the merits and excitement of soccer. And, knowing that draws are one of the facets of soccer that Americans do not like, he certainly would not have used this game as a demonstration of soccer's excitement if it had ended in a tie. Therefore, in his original post, sethuel1 was responsible for offering the spoiler that the game ended with a winner and loser.

In a kind, generous spirit, I merely offered my sincere condolences to the losing side (who deserved a draw, for sure).

2nd legs of champions league action starts on tuesday.

chelsea-porto espn classic

liverpool-barca espn2

i don't have the schedule for wed.

Wednesday has Man U-Lille on ESPN2 and Bayern/Real Madrid on Classic.

I really like the Barcelona/Liverpool choice. Barca is going to come out firing because they have to win - much like their final group stage match against Werder Bremen. I would have preferred Munich/Madrid on ESPN2 for Wednesday over the Man U game.

Gerrard will take over.

Liverpool had about 3 chances to put one in and completely take control but they couldn't finish. Plus some good defense by Barcelona on the play.

Barca's goalie almost gave away a goal off of a horrendous clearance attempt but Sissoko's shot hit the bar. Liverpool is unlucky right now.

The Lyon loss hurts a lot. I had them picked to be in the finals.
