That's probably it for the kid (although you can't rule anything out with Dusty) - what a great outing.

I think he might try and stretch him one more inning. Baker will see O'Malley has thrown 87 pitches and see if he can get one more inning putting him at around 100 pitches. Just a hunch.

Nobody warming up.

Wonder if he's earned himself another start?

6 BB's and only 2 K's, the guy is playing with fire out there. It's partly making pitches when you need them, partly an exhausted opposing lineup, and partly luck. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets another start out of this, but it would not be at all out-of-line to have this be a one time shot.

I wasn't so much saying he should start again, but in a wasted season he might build a little trade value if he can put together another good start or two. I wouldn't be bothered sending him down again though, I don't really think he's anything too special.

Guy probably got a call at one in the morning and was told he was going to start for the Cubs 12 hours later. And he comes in and does this. Very impressive.

O'Malley = better Glendon Rusch, except he's not getting 2.5 million a year.

He's not even getting the .5! IMO the kid will be a 500 type pitcher or worse in his career but he has stepped up today.

We were laughing early in the game about playing for 1 run today..I don't think anybody expected that 1 run would be leading today. Great job O'Malley.

Ok-now this is getting a little crazy with him leading off.
