If he could sustain that over a full year it'd be awesome.

Fred's numbers disagree with yours. What is your source?

The difference is that Fred's numbers were from June the 10th, while texas's numbers were only post all star break. Of course those numbers have changed by now, but the day he posted them they were correct.

I will say it again, ARam will be a Cub (on an Adrian Beltre contract) in 2007. ARam knows there isn't a viable option on the free agency market, and to acquire somebody like an ARod in the offseason, would take patience/money/prospects. ARam knows this (or atleast his agent does).

So ARam is going to present Hendry two options:

1: Sign me to X contract......or

2: Enjoy signing/trading for a player like a David Bell, Corey Koskie, or a Mark Teahen.

The thing is that Hendry does enjoy signing players like Bell, Koskie and Teahen. IMO he'll let Ramirez go and get players like that and go after Soriano hard to play 2nd.

I wouldn't mind Teahen at all. He's not that big of a downgrade (.287/.361/.519) and he'd come a lot cheaper than resigning Ramirez. Of course, I don't think he's even a free agent after this season but please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

I'm praying you're right. Because the prospect of facing another 20 years searching for a decent 3B makes me ill.

I don't think so. Hendry doesn't bring in top free agents, but at least he keeps the stars he does have. I'd be surprised if Ramirez isn't back (unless he's dead set on leaving regardless of money).

For some reason, I thought the All Star break was on June 10th. His numbers are actually better now.

The Cubs also looked like they were on their way up NCCF and this team does not look like they are going to compete in the next couple of years. I think we have to get ready for Ramirez to leave and go to plan B. What REALLY worries me is that Hendry's plan B might be a very bad plan B. I do believe he'll go after Soriano hard, especially when Ramirez leaves.

When does Ramirez have to say what he is going do? Does it give the Cubs time to aquire a quality replacement?

I don't recall reading anything about that. It might be during the normal free agency filing period, which starts shortly after the end of the World Series.
