  1. After reading the opening paragraphs to the article, I looked up the BaseballProjection Top 500 Position Players (ordered by Historical WAR) to see who the real "Mr. Cub" ought to be. It turns out Cap Anson is far and away the all-time Cubs leader in Historical WAR with 88.8 (as a Cub). How fitting is it that the all-time position player WAR leader for the North Siders is the same guy who:
  2. I wouldn't mind Teahen at all. He's not that big of a downgrade (.287/.361/.519) and he'd come a lot cheaper than resigning Ramirez. Of course, I don't think he's even a free agent after this season but please correct me if I'm wrong about that.
  3. sweet, maybe now NSBBers will stop bringing Neifi into every thread regardless of topic "So this Ryne Malone kid at Peoria looks pretty good" "WELP WE ALL KNOWS UDSTYS HORSES NEIFI SEASONED VETERENAN " "JIM HEDNRY SHOULDNT EVER CALL HMI UP EVEN IN A FEW YERAS NEIIFIS ONE OF DUSTYS 'DUDES' HE NDEEDDS HIS HORSES"
  4. A fellow UCLA fan? And a UCI fan? I am not shocked that ASU would be ranked higher than UCLA since all the national media see is Drew Olson, Lewis and Drew gone from last year's team. Personally, I'm just hoping the Bruins are above .500 and Ben Olson has a strong year. I'm pretty excited about the recruiting class for next year. :) Well, I'm a UCLA football fan because I know UCI football won't lose a game this year, and it's no fun following a team that good. I also like Bruins basketball but they rank behind UCI and then Illinois in my book. (that is, in a game between UI and UCLA I want UI to win, UCI vs. UI I want Illinois, etc)
  5. wow, there are some pretty sweet names in next years draft. I mean, come on -- Sequoyah Stonecipher?!
  6. It's absolutely astonishing that A"STD"U finished with more votes than UCLA (some other sites have the complete vote counts... with Spurrier's requisite Duke vote of course sadly, UCLA won't have much of a chance to climb up the rankings since the tough part of their schedule is backloaded with their first ranked opponent (ND) waiting for them in October
  7. I hate the Red Sox and all those stupid teenagers wearing pre-faded "B" hats. I want to kill them all. Haha, yeah... I saw some jerkoff wearing a Tombstone (as in the pizza) hat today, and I was like "I'ma put you under a tombstone if you don't take that hat off!" I WANT TO KILL ALL THOSE GUYS!!
  8. Wow, Jacque crushed the ball And hey, it's nice to see someone on the Cubs hustling out a flyball for once :)
  9. Sigh, Ramirez lines out to Wilson in left. :( It looked like he got pretty good wood on the ball, too... he's not pleased
  10. I disagree that the lineup order would improve this team much. Wow Thanks for the insight. OBP off all of those spots in the lineup with current players and splits included. Pierre (320), Barrett (399), Lee (396), Aramis (324), Jones/Murton (372), Walker (356), Jones/Murton (287), Cedeno (280). no need for the sarcasm just because your argument has been proven wrong by dozens of people who do nothing but analyze baseball. It's not like he's saying that if the Cubs just "tweaked" their lineup a little bit they'd be scoring 9 a game, he's just saying that the awful lineups Dusty puts on the card every morning are only worsening the offensive potential of this club. I see nothing wrong with the argument that batting the sadly scarce high OBP/lowish power guys the Cubs have 1 and 2 with the decent power guys they have 3-4-5, instead of this Neifi Perez #2 crap, would improve the Cubs' offensive situation.
  11. Ibañez is 4th among all AL outfielders in HR, 1st in RBI, 15th in AVG, 17th in OBP, 6th in SLG, and 7th in OPS. He's having a pretty good season, but I really think the likes of Dye, Swisher, Ramirez, Wells, Ichiro, and Matthews, Jr, and probably some other guys, deserved to go over him. edit: surprisingly, Ibañez's home splits kick the snot out of his away splits even though he plays at Safeco: .301/.375/.557 at home vs. .261/.320/.516 away
  12. Did Alou get cheered back here? I KNOW Gracie got a huge standing ovation when he came back here for the first time. I distinctly remember a huge "ALOOOOOOUUUUUUUU" when he came out onto the field for the first time after leaving the Cubs.
  13. Todd's one of the few players on this team that I'd like to see come back and join the coaching staff, some day. Wouldn't you love to see him in Dusty's place managing the team?
