It's just tough to root for a guy who is 1-6 with a 7.00+ ERA, even if his last name is Prior. Are you kidding me? He lasted 3 inning yesterday and looked horrible!

He's done, nothing, over, move on!

Hayyyy what did you win today? The award for

"Making a baseless statement, getting pwned by Rocket Sauce, then totally ignoring said pwning and continuing on with more intelligent analysis".

Awesome.

while i agree with the sentiments...why would one use terminology such as "pwned" or 'pwning'? I'm 27, still fairly young, and I'm baffled. I would expect my niece or nephews to use such terminology if they were obnoxious. Thankfully, they aren't.

Again, I do agree with the sentiments outlined in your post.

Yeah dude, it's spelled, "pwn3d."

Edit - actually, I just agree that it may not be wise to evaluate Prior as "done, nothing, etc".

I'm 28

We'll always have 2003

Yeah, that was such a great memory. Actually, by far the worst sports memory of my life. Won't truly get over it until we win it all.

The term has become ubiquitous in Internet circles and now it is often used outside of gaming contexts. For example "We pwned them hardcore in that basketball game," or "that Spartan_Vice is such a n00b, he is constantly getting pwned." Its progressive form is "pwning." An example: "I was pwning like crazy!" Its noun form is "pwnage" (or "pwnge"). An example: "Did you see that flame war? PWNGE!" "zors" may also be added to create a humorous portmanteau of the word, e.g. pwnzors (also spelled xors or x0rz). Another variation that stems from pwn, is pwnai or pwnai'd, just like pwnage or pwnzors; pwnai is just a variation used to accentuate the base word of pwn, "that kid just got pwnai'd".

Hillarious

The truth is as of now Prior doesn't have the same stuff as he did in 2003. That's a fact. Will he ever regain his form is the bigger question. IMO, Wood and Miller will not and at this point I'm starting to think Prior might be on the same boat.

From what I saw of Prior last year it just seemed like pitches that used to get by hitters were hit or fouled off. It just looks like a flat pitch to me with little movement. I hope the kid is ok and finds himself.

There's also been some discussion about how Prior has become quite the raving not nice guy over the last season or so. I'm wondering if all this is getting to him...a guy who seemingly has effortless success over his entire life might be having a little trouble dealing with the fact that he was merely respectable last year and not good this year. He might be better off seeing a sports psychologist rather than a orthopedic surgeon.

How about that Dog Whisperer guy instead?

Well, he "rehabilitates dogs and trains people." Maybe he'll work.

Prior stayed in Chicago to get checked out.

Paul Sullivan in The Trib[/url]"] The Mark Prior saga took another turn Friday when the Cubs right-hander stayed in Chicago to get his shoulder checked by team physician Stephen Gryzlo.

The Cubs saw some red flags during Prior's three-inning stint against Milwaukee on Thursday and opted to have him examined before deciding whether or not he will make his scheduled start on Tuesday in Houston.

"We'll see what comes of it," pitching coach Larry Rothschild said. "There were some pitches he threw [Thursday] that I didn't like the way he threw. We have to make sure of what's going on and where he is and go from there."

Rothschild said a drop in Prior's velocity in the third inning triggered some concern that he was having problems.

Apparently, they noticed.

The Cubs also announced that they think that trading Lou Brock might have been a mistake.

Len Kasper said tonight -- and made clear this was just based on his speculation -- that he assumes that if Prior won't make his next start, he'll be DL'd again. Which is no big surprise, but looks like it's headed in that direction.

They'll need to make a roster move when Guzman is called up anyway. Maybe they'll DL Prior now so they don't have to send somebody down.

Reason number 290820482098 why Dusty should be fired. Prior was #3 on BP's Pitcher Abuse Points last year though even though he had a short season.

Link

And yet, the sad thing is...Dusty doesn't see where he has done anything wrong.

I FULLY believe that the Prior of 2003-05, WILL in time return. I know I am being annoying oppesmistic, but I really believe Prior will eventually return to form.

Two thoughts I have relating to this:

1. It's actually reason number 290820482099 why Dusty should be fired rather than reason number 290820482098.

2. And look who was number 2 on that list of BP's Pitcher Abuse Points: Carlos Zambrano.

Dusty remembers when pitchers threw 300 innings a year and darn it these guys should be able to do it too.

someone send him a memo that the umps now call a strikezone half the size as in those days.

there's lots of arguments about why pitchers used to be able to throw alot more innings than pitchers now. I think the size of the strikezone now compared to when 300 IP was normal has alot to do with it. if baseball wants to even out the balance between pitching and hitting, which they don't, they will enforce the high strike.

Unfounded allegations and accusations are so awesome!

If MLB had real testing I wouldn't have wrote that. Wait, some guy in Brazil just tested positive and will be suspended for 50 games.
